Pope Leo decides to run for President in 2028

Vatican City - Pope Leo today decided to announce his running for President of the United States as a democrat. Since Pope Leo is from Chicago and an American citizen, he is lawfully able to do so, even though he is also the Pope. The Pope then gave a press statement about his decision.

"Recently I have been criticized for openly campaigning against President Trump, and I have encountered criticism for doing so because........well........I'm just a Pope and not a political figure. I guess they have a point, but now the gloves are off as I am both Pope and a politician, so now I can speak my mind! America and Israel must stop and desist attacking Iran. Even though Iran has attacked both the US military and Iran overseas nonstop since the Iranian revolution, we expect more of them than the Iranian regime. After all, American and Israel should learn to turn the other cheek when bombs start falling in Jerusalem, and Americans soldiers are attacked in the Middle East because that is what Jesus would do. The Iranian people should also turn the other cheek as they are shot by the thousands for protesting their government. Even though they are mostly Muslim, they should learn to be more Christ like and forgive. Speaking of which, many have criticized me for running as a democrat. After all, the democrat party has been a huge champion of abortion on demand, something that the church says is mass infanticide, murdering over 60 million infants to date since Roe vs. Wade. But I held my tongue criticizing them for it as did they myriad of Popes before me, because we must learn not to judge, and tell them that Jesus will forgive them. But those evil doers who dare build walls to keep out immigrants and make threatening overtures to Iran will someday encounter hell fire as judgement, with Trump leading the way. That is why the Vatican routinely only speaks out against the fascist GOP but never the saintly DNC. Again, it is what Jesus would have done cuz I represent Jesus, Jesus who we all can clearly see was just like Karl Marx as he helped the poor, only minus the hatred for God and all that. Won't you vote for me in order not to participate in the hell fire that awaits the evil MAGA doers?"

Pope Leo does not meet the residency requirements. Although a US citizen he does not meet the 14-year residency requirement as he has lived overseas for many years.
