I have a hard time believing a Pope who had this sort of thing in his recent past would have been around this long and it not have come to light before this.

Also gave some very milktoast comments about the genocide of Christians in Nigeria. Why not speak forcefully about that ? Why only Trump ? Maybe because he met with Obama's advisor Axelrod a few weeks ago. This is all about midterms...

There really wasn't much media coverage focused on Pope Leo's past. Either way it's hard to not question the coordinated response coming from Church leaders. TRUMP had spats with Francis and I don't recall the same type of "no one can question the Pope" messaging.
I've been reading comments in Catholic media and people aren't blindly falling inline. With Francis we got a lot of "lost in translation" allowing Church leadership to spin his comments in a respectful way. They're not able to do the same with Leo.

The Church needs to be careful and not jump the shark in defending Leo.

The Church's position on immigration hasn't really changed since John Paul II. Most of the undocumented immigrants are Catholics, so of course, the Church is going to advocate for them.

The only thing that has changed is Trump's truly repulsive policies of sending them to concentration camps while trying to get their home countries to take them back.

What Pope Leo said 47's Illegal and Unconstitutional War in Iran is very much in line Catholic Social Teachings. The Illegal and Unconstitutional War in Iran is NOT a "Just War".

The United States attacked Iran, NOT the other way around. Which one of the many reasons NATO has joined the fight. NO NATO was attacked.

This is what you people hate, a Man of Religious Principals stands on his principles and is not afraid to speak out what 47 is dong to the world. Leo is what "Pro-Life" is about. He is opposed to war (YOU are not) he is opposed to state sanctioned murder (YOU are not), he opposes War (YOU do not). The only thing YOU are "Pro-Life" about is abortion. Leo lives his ethics, YOU on the other hand have Transactional Values. When you need them, you use them. Otherwise you toss them aside.
