Here's the thing: Christians are admonished to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the imprisoned, take care of widows and orphans, and so on.

But those are INDIVIDUAL duties, not the duty of the Sovereign. It is NOT compassionate or kind or "Christian" to induce the Sovereign to take money out of others' pockets and give it to The Poor. Indeed, that is a form of theft. To speak in theological terms, it is "Not Cool."
