So today the RNC does this:

"SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Republican National Committee censured two GOP lawmakers on Friday for participating on the committee investigating the violent Jan. 6 insurrection and assailed the panel for leading a “persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse.”

GOP officials took a voice vote to approve censuring Reps. Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois at the party's winter meeting in Salt Lake City."

In response, Ms Cheney questions the RNC's criteria for 'legitimate political discourse' by offering this.

Dude, she is out. OUT.

Wyoming Republicans already voted her out of the party. A national party boot is coming up.

So the Repubs don't mind if they get ransacked while in Congress by a bunch of people in pussy hats, next time BLM can help day selves to the speaker's paraphernalia in their offices and kick up their feet on their desk? I should try that sometime since it is legal-political discourse...?

It's ok to smash windows at the Capitol also???

Be interesting to query the Wyoming Republicans on whether they too, like the national organization, think the following is..."legitimate political discourse'?

So, if they too think that, what does that say about Wyoming Republicans?

What does it say about the Republican National Committee?

Or, are there Republican, Conservatives, Righties, or MAGAhats, on this venue that also think the following is "legitimate political discourse'?

Ya coulda fooled me! That looks like May 2020, June 2020, July 2020, August 2020, September 2020, and October 2020 in the cities: Colorado Springs, Portland, Rochester, Manhattan, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Bakersfield, Columbus, Denver, Detroit, Houston, LA, Memphis, Minneapolis, NYC, Phoenix, San Jose, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and numerous other cities!

I suppose that when the left in the form of BLM and antifa set fire to a church outside the White House, attacked the White House perimeter to the point that they needed to move the President, and then surrounded, harassed Senator Rand Paul (who was NOT cowering in a room two blocks over) that you think that was legitimate political discourse.

Of course, as others have already stated, for four+ months in 2020, the political discourse of the left was to bail out individuals who were killing citizens, burning courthouses, trashing police precincts, and destroying businesses.

It's funny she only shows that footage and not the other 100 hours or more of peaceful demonstration inside the Captial, along with about 400 hours that has not been released to the public at large and has been kept from the GOP but strangely given to Cheney.

The fact that she is partaking in an unmoderated witch hunt that brings the power of the Congress down on innocent American citizens is the reason she has been censored. My wish is that when sanity returns to government, that she is charged with treason.

She can easily become a Democrat, but they can't kick her out of office. She is collecting more in fundraising than the Anti-American Trump Kraken squad of marionettes running for office.
Republicans outnumber Democrats in Wyoming 7 to 1.

Becoming a democrat in Wyoming does her no good.

Well, those comments kinda sorta answer the curiosity on whether some on this venue think the following is "legimtimate political discourse":

Fewer than 1% of the people in DC that day participated in the riot. To use you commies terms, it was a mostly peaceful protest.

.

A couple of observations on the above:
  • "You commies"??
Ummm, good poster OK.....you seem stuck in a time warp. "Commies" is so yesterday. So Joe McCarthy. Do you, and I mean no disrespect, but do you still have your family doing bomb drills in the backyard bunker? Still put up quantities of canned good for the day it drops on Texas? Still use your dartboard with a Kruschev face?

Next, I don't know much about whether it was 1% who were violent. Or more, or less. Let's not parse numbers. Rather we can agree that, like the social justice/police brutality protests of 2020, most of the assembled people at the Ellipse were intending for a peaceful protest.
But, the peaceful ones are not where the rub lies....at either time.

Not all were peaceful. Not during the summer of 2020 (when 11,000+ of 'em got their asses arrested); and not the 2,000+ folks who illegally entered the Capitol; illegally (duh!) sprayed MACE in the face of a uniformed officer; or dragged him down the steps to stomp the feces outta him; or speared him with an iron flagpole.

And let's not ignore those 'eeeeuw-factor' MAGAs either --- the ones who pooped on the floor of the Capitol.

All of those MAGAs should be arrested....the stompers and the sh*tters.

AND, importanly.....so must be those mokes who assembled heavy armament in hotel rooms nearby in prepartion for an armed takeover of the Capitol. They need be arrested and charged with seditious conspiracy (umm, now that I think about it, a squad of them have been arrested for that very thing).

This cake is still baking, good poster OKTexas
Let us all watch with interest as the Select Committee unwinds the net.
Hopefully, they will make it gripping TV.
Not for a 'spectacle'.....but rather dramatic enough so that America tunes in, listens intently, and learns something.

THAT is the value of this Committee.
As an educator for the American electorate.

Good on them. Good for America.

So tell the class, what is the legislative purpose of this partisan committee?

This bi-partisan committee?
Ah, now my poor avatar is being put on the spot once again to lecture and do a TED Talk. We've long tried to sidestep such after retiring. Got a pretty full dance-card as it is.

So, let's cheat and do a mini-Google.

To wit:

"A select or special committee of the United States Congress is a congressional committee appointed to perform a special function that is beyond the authority or capacity of a standing committee. A select committee is usually created by a resolution that outlines its duties and powers and the procedures for appointing members. Select and special committees are often investigative, rather than legislative, in nature though some select and special committees have the authority to draft and report legislation.

A select committee generally expires on completion of its designated duties, though it can be renewed. Several select committees are treated as standing committees by House and Senate rules and are permanent fixtures in both bodies, continuing from one Congress to the next. Examples include the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence in the House and the Select Committee on Intelligence in the Senate. The Senate Indian Affairs Committee is a select committee, though the word select is no longer a part of its name.

Some select committees are called special committees, such as the Senate Special Committee on Aging. However, they do not differ in any substantive way from the others.
