Congresswoman Cheney can counterpunch. Ably so.

"Cheney is FISHING for a gig in the Dem controlled media after she gets booted out of congress on her ass, bank on it."

Oh, that may very well be. None here, I think, have any unique knowledge about her career plans. But if, in fact, she has a media career in mind....well, who can blame her?

Her former career as a decades-long uber-conservative Republican may have run into shallow water. Her longtime reputation for responsible conservativism has lost traction in the personality-cult realpolitik that now is dominant in the GOP. She should look for opportunities. Who wouldn't?

But, before then --- we hope she and the other Committee members dig diligently, sincerely, thoroughly, transparently, into all of the threads that brought to America that shocking and embarrassing spectacle of MAGA-Hatted nutjobs beating the crap out of our police, vandalizing our People's House, defecating in its hallways, and threatening our Representatives with death.

We need that huge ugly boil on America's reputation thoroughly lanced and examined.

So, you go girl! Sic 'em!!

This bi-partisan committee?
Ah, now my poor avatar is being put on the spot once again to lecture and do a TED Talk. We've long tried to sidestep such after retiring. Got a pretty full dance-card as it is.

So, let's cheat and do a mini-Google.

To wit:
"A select or special committee of the United States Congress is a congressional committee appointed to perform a special function that is beyond the authority or capacity of a standing committee. A select committee is usually created by a resolution that outlines its duties and powers and the procedures for appointing members. Select and special committees are often investigative, rather than legislative, in nature though some select and special committees have the authority to draft and report legislation.

A select committee generally expires on completion of its designated duties, though it can be renewed. Several select committees are treated as standing committees by House and Senate rules and are permanent fixtures in both bodies, continuing from one Congress to the next. Examples include the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence in the House and the Select Committee on Intelligence in the Senate. The Senate Indian Affairs Committee is a select committee, though the word select is no longer a part of its name.

Some select committees are called special committees, such as the Senate Special Committee on Aging. However, they do not differ in any substantive way from the others.

Just saying you don't know would have been much easier.

.

She learned to counterpunch from the best, her father; when Democrats were beating the shit out of him for rebuilding the the defense and intel infrastructure after 9-11. Some of the same people adorning Liz Cheney today are the same ones who still want her father tried for war crimes. Mind you, all of this was happening when Trump was writing them checks and bashing Bush. That was when Democrats had no problems with Trump’s so-called racist past or Trump’s pursuit of pussy.

Just saying you don't know would have been much easier.
Oh true that! Much easier.
But you see, my avatar felt a responsibility to teach your avatar just a bit about the plumbing of American civics, about our governance, and about our legislative processes. To fill in some of your gaps.

We both hope he was somewhat effective in helping you to be a better you. ;)

Here's one that should be easy to answer. Where in the resolution does it say the members would be appointed by one party?

.

So today the RNC does this:

"SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Republican National Committee censured two GOP lawmakers on Friday for participating on the committee investigating the violent Jan. 6 insurrection and assailed the panel for leading a “persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse.”

GOP officials took a voice vote to approve censuring Reps. Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois at the party's winter meeting in Salt Lake City."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In response, Ms Cheney questions the RNC's criteria for 'legitimate political discourse' by offering this.

And this was?

She can't counterpunch the Wyoming voters. She's toast. If she wants to ever be elected for anything ever again she will have to change to being a Democrat and move to a blue state and even then it is highly unlikely she would be elected.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Be interesting to query the Wyoming Republicans on whether they too, like the national organization, think the following is..."legitimate political discourse'?

So, if they too think that, what does that say about Wyoming Republicans?

What does it say about the Republican National Committee?

Or, are there Republican, Conservatives, Righties, or MAGAhats, on this venue that also think the following is "legitimate political discourse'?

While you conveniently ignore YOUR side’s murder of two dozen officers, billions in property damage and theft, and countless other crimes. Tells us all we need to know about you. None of it good. Cheney is done.

The great good benefit Ms Cheney can provide for all Americans ...regardless of political affiliation .....is to continue to contribute in this important Select Committee as they dissect all of the threads....and all of the people....that contributed to this humiliating day for the citizens of America.

Their work is important. We need to know how January 6th came to happen, who all of the players were, and what did they say and do. At this point, I am somewhat confident that they can do that.

There are good solid legislators on this committee, ex-prosecutor Schiff; Magana cum laude Harvard Law, Constitutional scholar, Raskin; retired naval Commander, Luria; DOD national security specialist, Murphy; and of course, the clear-eyed, no-nonsense Cheney. We can have confidence in these people.

All of us loyal Americans who value the rule of law, the ethic of Blue Lives Matter, and respect for our Capitol and its role in American democracy will applaud this group's work.

We pray that when they begin the nationally televised portion of their work that they do so with gravitas and with a recongnition that they need to bring a powerful and clear narrative so that even the least educated amongst us can promptly grasp the danger America faced on Janaury 6th.....and continues to face today.

I'm sure y'all will agree.

spectacle of MAGA-Hatted nutjobs beating the crap out of our police
This ^^^ is why nobody likes you lying lowlife filth on the left. You people injured over 2,000 cops during your summer of riots, looting and burning US cities. SMACK there's a backhand to the face.

So the Repubs don't mind if they get ransacked while in Congress by a bunch of people in pussy hats, next time BLM can help day selves to the speaker's paraphernalia in their offices and kick up their feet on their desk? I should try that sometime since it is legal-political discourse...?

It's ok to smash windows at the Capitol also???

Dang. All that was needed was a GOP 'security guy' to let 'em on in. But notice how fawning CNN's coverage of this attempted insurrection was.
