Coca-Cola makes $10 billion per year from Food Stamps

In this thread we can see the total disregard of commonsense by the left.

It really boggles the mind how obtuse and insulated these people must be from the real world around them.

That said if you look at their posts it's just one leftist parroting the virtue-signaling of another leftist....No real thoughts of their own that make any sense.....Just like the Borg, they have been assimilated.

The really sad part is that they have a say in anything by being able to cast a vote so the stealing of our wealth, along with promoting an unhealthy lifestyle can continue without feeling remorse and shame for what they have wrought.
Do you actually think this would change health outcomes?

Really?

I suspect the figure is overblown for clicks but why the heck are sugary drinks even allowed to be purchased with EBT/SNAP?

And then taxpayer funded Medicaid pays to fix the poor's cavities.....We pay the "poor" to get fat, then pay even more to give them free medical care for their chosen obesity.

Food stamps should change from default accept to default deny. It shouldn't be "you can buy anything except XYX." Move to "You can't buy anything except ABC. Then make food manufacturers apply to qualify their products.

Everything the .gov touches turns out to be a grift. :eusa_wall:

abu afak ...you said this is fake news.

I tend to think so my self. I looked for your documentation. You didn't have any.

But neither did the OP.

I would love to see the documentation on this. I am sure Coke isn't broadcasting this one.

How do we confirm this?

I’m not saying ban all foods, I am saying ban sugary drinks that have no nutritional value.

Got it. Corn dogs, hot pockets and 80% burger can stay? Kool-aid banned? Fruit juices mostly sugar?

It's hard work to police it. We already have FDA allowing it. We have rules against it now. Sort of. It is on the shelf.

Oh, I'm with you. I wish for skinnier America too. Kids used to work farms or yards or play all day. Now they have to hide out eating Doritos watching Nutflix all day.

Two presidents are primarily responsible for this abuse:
0bama and Biden. Two of the most disastrous presidents in history.

Soda as a whole is about 5% of the food stamp family budget, 10% on all sugary drinks including sport drinks, teas, high fructose fruit drinks. That is from a 2016 study. In terms of 2023, that would be $5.6 billion on soda and $11.2 billion on all sugary beverages.
Comes out to around 60¢ a day per food stamp recipient for all Coca-Cola products including water and unsweetened drinks.... (45 million people on food stamps average)

And even if all $10 billion are spent on Coca-Cola sweet drinks, 60¢ is much less than 1 Coca-Cola sugary drink a day...

They seem to be managing their sugary drinks fairly well....?

(of course... we haven't seen the numbers on PepsiCo)

Here’s a better idea. 100% tax on all sugary beverages. Maybe 200%.

See what I mean about no commonsense!

At the mere mention of cutting off the fat welfare leaches a social leech (leftist) comes along and want's it taxed no end to make the producers of our society pay more.

That's how the left rolls stupidly along.

Of course, it would not bother me as I don't drink the stuff. ;)

Your definition of “throw money away” isn’t mine.

of course it isn't. You think compassion is the same as throwing other people's money at the problem without actually trying to fix the problem.

So you promote an unhealthy lifestyle for “the producers”?

I really don't think it's a good idea to let corrupt piece of shit .gov deep state scumbags decide what poor people eat.

I've been actively studying nutrition science since I was a small child tutoring nursing and medical students. Half a century. I've also been a professional trainer and nutritionist for champion athletes and record breakers. But I've also trained average Joe and Jane Does. People from all walks of life.

I have a very thorough understanding of human physiology and nutrition science.

The government is consistently wrong about nutrition. They are always wrong because they are corrupt.
So, in your opinion, is soda nutritional?

Kool-aid Aid too? You open big box of worms w/o much thought. They've been working on this since LBJ. It aint easy to police a moving target with multiple agencies involved

As a practical matter, the entire check out process would have to be different if we are going to ban all this junk food from EBT purchases. I agree, it would not be a smooth transition.

I think supermarkets should have dedicated aisles for those using EBT, where this could be regulated with a dedicated check out, more room nearby to toss out those items that don't scan, but would that work? And, of course, the wailing about the "injustice" of having to go to a separate register to get my free food would start on day one.

So now you guys want a nanny state. Gotcha.
It's the golden rule. He who has the gold makes the rules. In this case it's the federal government paying peoples' grocery bills and the government is going to have something to say about what it pays for.

?? Nope. Happens today, every day. You've never been in a checkout line behind someone using an EBT card?

Lol! I forgot. I've been at self checkout since 2008? At Walmart? Unless a huge cart load rarely. Now we need EBT self-checkout too.

Most "bad stuff" is already is banned? Or so I thought?

My HSA card won't buy junk at CVS.
