Coca-Cola makes $10 billion per year from Food Stamps

People need to eat those too. Not just meat.

Of course they do, but once you start messing with guidelines, of course the advocates are going to have a say and influence.

Are you saying the PETA nuts run on the Republican side?

You still haven’t explained how they “sidelined” meat. School lunches still had meat in them.

.

I vividly remember my life as a child -- outside all day weather permitting and RARELY getting sweets unless it was a special occasion or we earned the money to buy the junk.

I recall the early 90's, spending some time at my brother's house -- his son was obese and if he didn't get a snack between getting home from school and eating dinner, he'd FLIP OUT!

And we're not supposed to fat shame! I think it's time to shame the hell out of the obese, unless they have an actual excuse -- a couple of decades ago, I got talked into taking the SSRI's and gained about 75 pounds while doing so.

.
My idea of a snack after school was cinnamon toast.

The Nanny State, eh?
How is it a nanny state? It is government program, all government programs have rules. You use government money, the government has a right to determine how you spend it. If you don’t like it, you have a choice not to take them. Food stamps doesn’t let you buy prepared foods, it’s a rule. Soda is a leading cause of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, which in the future will cause health care costs to increase.

So by cutting out sugar drinks will save lives and costs later, why the resistance to eliminating soda from SNAP and will give them more money to spend on healthier choices. Not seeing the down side other than political BS.

Same shit different day.
You lied.

And we haven’t even gotten to your claim that the guidelines reduced the quantity of meat or even if that was a bad thing.

Let alone seeing any evidence that PETA or vegans had anything to do with it.

You’re a fucking weirdo.

Coca-Cola makes $10 billion per year from Food Stamps

So what? People on food stamps get thirsty too.
  • First the argument was that Coke was "junk food," not healthy, contributing to healthcare costs, but many cola products are sugar free, leaving basically, just cheap, tasty flavored water. Actually, cola is one of the cheapest beverages around. Price it against the cost of real fruit juice, coffee, milk or tea.
  • But if the angst were really over sugar, ban sugar. But then, you would be banning a vast host of foodstuffs including most deserts, beverages and all kinds of things, so it can't just be about sugar.
  • But let's take all the food stamp people off cola. Guess what? Now a lot of them will just buy it with their welfare money, also taxpayer money. All that leaves are the poorest of the poor who need food stamps but don't qualify for welfare and already don't have enough to live but must now buy cola with money they need for medicine and utilities. Or they can drink something else! But short of tap water, most everything is more expensive than cola.
It came to my attention the other day how much the government subsidizes public colleges. Public colleges are wholly funded on taxpayer dollars. Ever see some of the crap these colleges are teaching? With your money? I'd be a lot more concerned about that.

Then there are the universities. I just saw a major university in the news where a video of students from the university (I forget which one) were all standing around talking about their need and intent to overthrow the USA. All being subsedized with your tax money.

And you are worried about old and sick and poor people having a cold, refreshing drink on a hot day. If anything, I'd be more concerned about people on Welfare that legitimately, should be out working.

Yet more hatred and denigration of poor people from the right.

I thought you guys supported working class?
You really are either stupid or not literate. It is not denigrating the poor to point out facts. All Americans are getting fatter and sicker, including the poor. But we can change this by refusing to pay for the addictive, destructive products causing this. Notice the poorest women are the fattest among US.

It seems you prefer the poor to be filling up on sugared drinks, processed foods and junk that provides no nutrition while causing obesity. You really are a true blue democrat.
