I agree that they should be taken off the market, and I believe if anyone wants to purchase the crap, they can do so on their own time. SNAP is a nutritional program and alcohol, cigarettes, and soda are not nutritional and as such not be funded by the government. Government money comes with all sorts of restrictions and rules, universities, non-profits, government agencies, it is not unreasonable to make restrictions for SNAP just as they do for WIC, which is a great program that supports the health and welfare of the mother and child.
If you are taking government money, you should expect restrictions, if soda provided any nutritional benefit, you may have a point but they don’t and neither than you do other than political and when it comes to a healthier American, politics should stay out of it.
Why should taxpayer support unhealthy choices that will shorten life expectancy and increase health care costs in the future? Why should the government spend money on people, because of their unhealthy choices will not have a better life in the long run?
