Coca-Cola makes $10 billion per year from Food Stamps

I’m all down for education and providing support for poor people to improve their health.

Thats not what these prohibitions are all about.
In the long run, it is what they are about, less big corporate lobbying, providing better choices and giving incentives to help poor people feel better and have healthier better lives. That is what matters, if you don’t have your health, you are enjoying life.

I suspect the figure is overblown for clicks but why the heck are sugary drinks even allowed to be purchased with EBT/SNAP?

And then taxpayer funded Medicaid pays to fix the poor's cavities.....We pay the "poor" to get fat, then pay even more to give them free medical care for their chosen obesity.

Food stamps should change from default accept to default deny. It shouldn't be "you can buy anything except XYX." Move to "You can't buy anything except ABC. Then make food manufacturers apply to qualify their products.

Everything the .gov touches turns out to be a grift. :eusa_wall:

Outside almost every supermarket you can see groups of people waiting to sell their food stamp cards for cash. That's something else that needs to be ended.

There’s no choice or incentive in these proposals.

They’re only doing it because of moral indignation that poor people have access to things they disprove of.

And then you got shitty lunches kids didn't want to eat.
Thank you madam Michelle.....
It was an actual fact that during the time that Ms Obama decided to shove healthy food down kids throats.... Literally 80% of the lunches went in the trash.

So you’re willing to fund unhealthy school lunches and the medical problems that come from that?

Do you actually think limiting SNAP benefits is going to solve that?
Do you actually think people including children are voluntarily going to do what's good for them?
Even if you limit what the food stamps can buy they will stand outside the supermarkets and sell their cards for cash so that they can still buy what they want. Often times that includes selling it for 50 cents on the dollar.

I became aware of this when I observed someone checking out gum and soda only, EBT purchase. Gee, that makes sense, rot their teeth too, what a plan. It would make more sense they buy a screw driver.

Years later I worked directly with policy. Worst program I worked with, seen many. Operated by lazy crazy hateful lying prejudging man hating women. The only employee worth a shit was the program deputy, who was actually gay, but a good dude and operable brain. His boyfriend actually worked for the agency too, he was a dumbass to 10th degree, a real prick dick cock. The deputy retired and in comes the biggest bitch of all. Glad to have left soon after. Closer to welfare you get the worst the govt. program, IMO. Especially since Obama, liberals got bad.

I listed the incentives in my proposal, giving them double SNAP money for buying healthy choices, they also have the choice to use their own money to buy junk food or chose not to buy junk food.

I don’t care what their motivations are, mine is for a healthier nation. Regardless of motivations a healthier life is a better America. I also believe using tax dollars to poison people is morally wrong, that allowing big corporations dictating policy for Americans is wrong.

The government has no business spending tax money on making people sick, unhealthy and poor, we need to quit subsidizing bad behavior.

If you want people to change their behavior, you start by treating them with respect.

If sodas are so bad for people, why are they on the market at all?

I agree that they should be taken off the market, and I believe if anyone wants to purchase the crap, they can do so on their own time. SNAP is a nutritional program and alcohol, cigarettes, and soda are not nutritional and as such not be funded by the government. Government money comes with all sorts of restrictions and rules, universities, non-profits, government agencies, it is not unreasonable to make restrictions for SNAP just as they do for WIC, which is a great program that supports the health and welfare of the mother and child.

If you are taking government money, you should expect restrictions, if soda provided any nutritional benefit, you may have a point but they don’t and neither than you do other than political and when it comes to a healthier American, politics should stay out of it.

Why should taxpayer support unhealthy choices that will shorten life expectancy and increase health care costs in the future? Why should the government spend money on people, because of their unhealthy choices will not have a better life in the long run?

WE have a number of people who are just takers, & expect/ demand that some one else must provide for them.
And that is frustrating. And makes people angry.
What about those who are in a bad spot & just need a little time & help too get back on track?
Or the aged or ill, AND THE LITTLE KIDS, Who cannot pull them self's up by their own boot straps????

Poverty is very multifaceted.

But all you guys care about is cutting government spending.

Because it’s not about poverty.

Because throwing money at the problem with no controls or stipulations has been shown to be a failure.

I really don't think it's a good idea to let corrupt piece of shit .gov deep state scumbags decide what poor people eat.

I've been actively studying nutrition science since I was a small child tutoring nursing and medical students. Half a century. I've also been a professional trainer and nutritionist for champion athletes and record breakers. But I've also trained average Joe and Jane Does. People from all walks of life.

I have a very thorough understanding of human physiology and nutrition science.

The government is consistently wrong about nutrition. They are always wrong because they are corrupt.

Thanks for that tirade Stalin. Enjoy your $100 Scotch but ban the $2 occasional coke for the masses.

You can't stop killings, shootings, stabbings, cocaine, heroin or now Fentynal but you are going to get in there and demand they eat soy based meatloaf and drink only water?

Even in prison with 24-7 full control they can't stop killings or rapes in the USA because leftist demands rights unlike El Salvador or Russian lockup.

All government programs have controls and stipulations. Controls and stipulations intended to discourage use of programs is wrong.

If this food is so unhealthy, why is it legal to sell at all?

We are seeing how far those controls actually go, despite your ignorance of what DOGE is uncovering.

I don’t drink but the government would not be buying my scotch, you are free to drink as much soda that you want, you are free to have as many abortions that you want, you are free to restrict free speech, but government has a right, if they are funding you, to restrict what you spend that money on. It is a monthly grant given to you by the government based on criteria they set forth.

You’re still talking about DOGE? I thought those losers folded after they were caught repeatedly lying and never producing any evidence or proof.

Fucking clowns.

You don’t actually care about helping people. You just want to stop spending any taxpayer money on them.
