Democrats Are Speeding Straight Into A Wall W/ Government Shutdown Plan!

Time for Thune to use the "nuclear option" if democrats want to shut the government.

Then Trump and congress can cut every government agency/department that isn't created by congress.

TurnCoat Thune has been slow and ineffective allegedly with a large side of Anti-American people & TDS.

No help to reign in or impeachment rouge judges who went after Trump or block and slow progress.

Buy your own health insurance you and your old freeloading non-productive daytime porch monkey 40s' boy bangers.

I just ran some numbers, LW, and it looks like the Schumer Democrats are holding America hostage for approximately $5,300.00 from every taxpaying citizen in this country to give to help illegal aliens they invited into this country for their own benefit.

When a ******* democrat ever gives me $5,300.00 tax free no catches no questions asked, I'll drop over dead.

Hell, I'm still waiting for the $2,500.00 Obumma promised me I'd be getting back in 2009 due to his Obammacare.

You are the one arguing to fund housing for illegals.

– $3.6 million for cooking and dance workshops for male prostitutes in Haiti.
– Over $4.2 million for LGBTQ projects in the Western Balkans and Uganda.
– $6 million to subsidize Palestinian media outlets.
– $3 million for circumcision and vasectomies in Zambia.
– More than $833,000 for transgender people in Nepal.
– $500,000 to purchase electric buses in Rwanda.
– $300,000 to sponsor a pride parade in Lesotho.

****PEEKKnobsonit reasons DEM shut the country. Fund this or no go says AOC the genius.

On the Government Shutdown issue Republican Senate Leader John Thune is right and Democrat Senate Leader Chuck Schumer is wrong and it isn't even a close call! The country desperately needs eight "brave and wise" Democrat Senators to recognize this and vote to stop the filibuster on this CR and bring this bill up for a passage vote! Senator Thune is right because the Continuing Resolution (CR) bill that the House passed and the Senate won't pass is essentially a government funding bill that keeps the federal government open through November 21, keeping funding at current levels. Democrats are acting irrational here this is not the time to go to war November 21 is the time when Republicans seek to pass the government funding bill that will fund the government through September 30, 2026. Senator John Thune is right when he says Democrats are acting like they cannot accept yes as an answer, in this CR bill Republicans are not advancing their agenda to cut the Federal Government so they can maintain lower taxes on the wealthy and corporations this is a "postpone the fight to another day" bill and not only should the Democrats sign on to this CR bill they should see it as a victory because it is an acknowledgement that this Republican agenda already implemented in President Trump's second term and slated to be further implemented in Republican's plan for this fiscal year's government funding bill isn't really good public policy and isn't publicly popular!

The Media needs to stop acting like bad media here and stop just creating controversy for ratings sake by acting like the Democrats have a case here and do what is clearly best for the country and call this out for what it is a needless game of chicken created by the Democrats! Democrats instigated by the radical Democrat base argue that now is the time for a big fight because the sign up period for the Affordable Care Act insurance begins November I and so these twenty-two million Americans that get Federal Government help to pay health insurance premiums need to know whether or not they will be getting the enhanced insurance premium credit they got over the last two years which the Democrats are demanding as a condition for them to pass the CR! This point by the Democrats is a half-truth because the insurance enrollment period yes begins on November 1 but does not end until January 15, 2026 so Americans that need this health insurance and the government tax credit can just postpone selecting a plan until after November 21 when the Fiscal Year 2026 government funding bill should have been passed and they will know how much of a tax credit they will be getting. These Democrats could argue that the amount of the tax credit will affect enrollment in various higher end plans on the exchanges and so if the enhanced premium credit is not going to be extended the health insurance providers for these plans on the exchanges are going to want to charge a higher premiums so if this issue isn't addressed now it will cause higher insurance premiums for higher end plans on the exchanges! This is not a significant factor because Republican leadership both Speaker Johnson and Speaker Thune are both saying that in essence Republicans will agree to extend the enhanced premium credit Republicans want to slightly revise the program putting income eligibility limit on the premium credit and making it so that people on the lower income spectrum are at least pay something toward their premium. One aside note I have heard a couple of Republicans take exception with many enrollees for the plans on the exchanges that don't use their health insurance at all like that is a bad thing that needs to be stopped it is like these Republicans don't understand the great benefit of the insurance pool design of health insurance plans; health insurance claims are extremely expensive just the average cost for a hospital stay is $2900 per day, so it is good and desirable public policy that enrollees generally use their health insurance as little as possible so when they really need it like they go into the hospital their insurance company has the revenue in their plan to pay the claim - the underlying concept of insurance pools is non-users help pay for users and this works for non-users because definitely one day they will be users!

The other major point is that Democrats are acting so stupid here using their precious public capital (specifically public support for the Democrats in a government shut down) when they don't have to when they will definitely definitely need it when the Republicans try to pass their Fiscal Year 2026 Government Funding bill? Democrats need to ask themselves what will this Republican FY2026 Funding bill look like; Republicans will not only be seeking to not raise government funding to meet inflation but they are going to be seeking to dramatically cut funding to satisfy their far right caucuses in their Party like the House Freedom Caucus and the Republican Study Committee about budget deficits and the national debt. These anticipated Republican cuts will definitely do some real damage to work the Federal government should be doing. So then the Democrats are going to want to threaten and implement a government shut down to stop real harm to America. Then Democrats don't want an American publica weary from a long government shutdown that began on October 1. Further, Democrats are not ready to fight over government funding that may involve a shutdown because their policy positions have big holes in it and they haven't chosen the wisest positions! Seeking to repeal the Medicaid changes in the Big Beautiful Bill is a losing position because most Americans support able bodied people being required to work to get Medicaid health insurance; Democrats need to tailor their position to say that we want funding to poor hospitals especially rural ones to be maintained so that these hospitals aren't forced to being shuttered or close vital services! Also, Democrats are leaving out an important and strong cause reversing the Big Beautiful bills cuts to the SNAP (food stamp) program, the BBB requires state governments to pick up an additional twenty-five percent of the Administrative costs of the program and financially penalizes states significantly for eligibility mistakes over six percent; states cannot afford to absorb this expense and so this will lead to a lot of eligible Americans not getting SNAP benefits, that is, the working poor not getting this assistance they need to buy food for themselves and their family. This SNAP issue is a winning issue for Democrats because many Republican state government officials across the nation will support the Democrats on this issue they don't want to lose this benefit for their working poor!
Democrats are advocating for the popular position that is even held by MAGAsouls:

Don't worry there are no illegals anymore. And if an illegal goes to the hospital, they can turn them in. Or are hospitals woke too?
This is our only power. 75% of America wishes someone would stand up to Trump. You guys certainly won't.
1. Yes there are illegals, Biden's open borders let 12,000,000 in
2. Hospitals don't call ICE
3. Trump has a 44% approval, the toxic democrats are at 19%

You support all of that. Why?

Yep....more stuff we are not paying for.

You must really love deficits.
All that I can do is provide you with the documented reality.

If you need to believe that Republicans should prioritize slashing healthcare for the poor and increasing the cost for middle class Americans, most Americans disagree with you.

According to new polling data, nearly 80 percent of Americans support extending Affordable Care Act (ACA) enhanced premium tax credits, which are set to expire at the end of this year—and are at the center of a funding dispute that led to a shutdown of the federal government this week.

And I did the same.

I think that it's time we pay for what we want. Healthcare from the government will always be a tough discussion.

There is no discussion about our deficits. They are growing and soon NOBODY will have much of anything. And that includes healthcare

Over 90% of the people I talk to have no idea just what our deficits and debt are, so you point is meaningless to me.

By "hammered" you mean that this 62 year old would have to draw more out of her Roth, instead of deliberately drawing less than she would like to in order to preserve this subsidy, paid for in part by taxes on the tips of sub-minimum wage waitresses.

She would only have to do that for less than two years, and then can go on Medicare and not worry about it.

I get that the ACA sucked for most people, as we know that it was designed to shift the burden of healthcare expenses from the sick to the healthy. The enhanced premium tax credits were introduced as a way to partly alleviate that by allowing people to get insurance more comensurate with the free market.

If you really believe that ending those subsidies will be so harmful to so many people, then the strategy would be to let the end happen, and be in a stronger position to negotiate in November.

Just asking, but would a
We have to also remember why those subsidies were added in the first place. They were added for the COVID emergency, which is no more. Letting them lapse just puts obamadon'tcare back where it was before COVID. Why can't obamadon'tcare survive on its own without taxpayer subsidies?

Why dont we have universal health care like every other first world nation?

Why dont we have universal health care like every other first world nation?
There are many reasons for that, but that doesn't relate to the question, does it?

Things are not going well for our country. You are one of the last hold outs who won't even admit things are going in the wrong direction

President Donald Trump (R) hit 43% approval in September, lowest rating of his second term

Fifty-four percent of voters disapproved of his performance.

The highest approval rating Trump has received this term is 54%, last seen on Jan. 22, 2025.

So you've lost 11% bro. Kamala would have won with 11% more of the vote.

Things are going great. Trump is enforcing "Law &Order" in criminal run cities. The stock market is setting records. The GDP was 3.8% so the economy is great. Unemployment is 4.3%. The Fed is lowering interest rates. Tariffs are helping to balance the budget. The BBB cut $1.5T off Biden's bloated budget. Life is good!!

Democrats are toxic at 19% approval. So Trump is an all star by comparison.

You can't transfer points from Trump to Kamala. NFW she would have won. There is a difference between "approval rating" and a choice between two candidates. Democrats are toxic at 19%. Get used to losing elections.

As for things going in the wrong direction. Biden had a 25% right track number, Trump has a 41% right track number.

wrong

Actually Thune just needs to make "annual" or short-term Appropriations Bills and CRs majority votes, not 60 vote items by changing senate rules. Major/permanent legislation would still need 60 votes.

Things are not going well for our country.

Really? Coulda fooled me.
  1. Borders closed.
  2. Illegals being rounded up.
  3. Crime down.
  4. Gangs down.
  5. Jobs and economy up.
  6. Trade up.
  7. War down.
  8. Military recruitment up.
  9. Government spending down.
  10. Massive internal criminal investigations ongoing.
Oh wait! I get it now. When you say "our country," what you really mean is just abortion-loving and immigrant-loving communist democrats.

Yeah, things not going too well for you.
