“200 times more likely today than it would have been 20 years ago.”

Wow.

What steps does the Republican Party have in mind to do our part..: here in America at least, to control global warming?

Oh, that’s right. They are deniers. Extreme heat records are been broken. Barely any cold-weather records are being broken in the winter.

Hundreds dead in Europe over this heat wave. Reminds me of the movie “ don’t look up!” although it was about an asteroid, it highlighted some people’s hardheadedness in denying things that the scientists warn about. Here’s the article from the associated press, so you can read it and pretend it’s fake news.:

Dude why are you on hear creating more warming. Cancel your account and whine to idiots.

"Democrats! 'Climate change'!"

What Study?
They only have records that go back about 130-150 years. That's not enough for a proper study of climate/weather. They've been saying the earth is warming/cooling for over 50 years and when conditions disprove their claims they change to 'climate change.' They have been warning that sea levels were rising for the same time -- yet the same people who have been spreading the panic are buying ocean front homes with no worry about the sea level rise. Its weather.

While this is an appropriate question to ask, this is def. not the forum to raise it (if seeking an answer).

This forum is pretty vehemently anti-science, with some thankful exceptions.

When so-called 'scientists' push panic issues to make themselves relevant, they do themselves more harm than good. A good example were the 'government scientists' who told people from the 30s until the 70s that smoking marijuana would turn a person into a sex-crazed, murdering sociopath. Reefer Madness turned into a joke and look what happened as a result--wide spread legalization. When you lie to the public, they will ultimately turn against you and you'll never regain their trust. The recent rashes of leftist panic--covid, global warming/cooling/climate change, sea level rise has done exactly that and most folks wouldn't trust a democrat as far as they could throw them.

Always check the tagline from these climate change alarmist stories:
The Associated Press’ climate and environmental coverage receives financial support from multiple private foundations. AP is solely responsible for all content. Find AP’s standards for working with philanthropies, a list of supporters and funded coverage areas at AP.org.

In other words, this is all paid propaganda garbage.

So let's start here: If when Al Gore punished his book, An Inconvenient Truth, in 2006, everyone in the U.S...
  • turned down their thermostats to 60 degrees in winter and up to 80 in summer,
  • traded their SUV's for Prius's,
  • Took up subsistence farming,
  • Cancelled all non-vital travel.
  • Disconnected all non-vital home appliances,
  • junked our powered lawn mowers,
  • etc.
What would have been the impact on the global climate by now?

If you answered, "Absolutely nothing," go to the head of the class.

And the same will be true 20 years from now, 40 years, and so on.

But wait...what if everyone in Europe did the same thing? Same answer. Japan? Same answer.

One might also point out that as exemplary as China has been in pushing "renewables," they are still building coal-fired power plants both in China and elsewhere. India is still building the same. African countries are doing the same.

And regardless of any of the things above, most of carbon fuels that are used in transportation (air, rail, sea), construction, and agriculture, are not amenable to significant reductions due to electrification or otherwise. Improvements in fuel economy are marginal, and insignificant in the big picture,

We MAGA types believe that rather than punishing ourselves for no significant benefit (see above), we should optimize our use of fossil fuels, and look to engineering to solve the problems that are caused by a warming planet. Just as we will use engineering to solve the problems arising from a lack of water in the American Southwest.

For the record, I drive a Tesla, but I couldn't care less about "climate change." I just like the cost savings.

Meantime, China and India are building hundreds of coal-fired power plants.

The climate has always changed.
But, using climate change as a far left political tool is something new.

If humans could cause climate change, 'climate scientists' would take part of the Arctic and bring it over to Europe.
