The Constitution says no to DC statehood - The Boston Globe
It’s not an oversight that the nation’s capital isn’t a state: the Founding Fathers designed it that way.www-bostonglobe-com.cdn.ampproject.org
Well said, 3/4 of the states hasn't been done sinceWashington D.C. cannot be state.
The Constitution limits the area of the District of Columbia to 100 square miles and prohibits the seat of government from growing outside those bounds. As such, the independent City of Alexandria as well as not only the City but the entire County of Arlington, as well as the Pentagon, which is federal and not property, properly pertain to the District of Columbia, rather than the Commonwealth of Virginia, since Virginia was a Confederate State at the time of the Civil War.
Neither the unconstitutional "retrocession" land grab nor the out-of-control growth of the federal government and military industrial complex beyond the original boundaries of the District of Columbia can be respected.
If the District of Columbia were a state, it could as well be all of Virginia, including Quantico and Langley AFB and the whole federal government administered from a Confederate state exactly as the Democratic Party wishes with the new Critical Race Theory being pushed and promoted in public schools by the Democrat teachers unions.
The Territory of Puerto Rico cannot be admitted as a state either until it is rid of Communism and the improper influence of the Castro family and other Mexican and Central/South American drug carteles. Otherwise that would be tantamount to admitting another slave state and threatening a second Civil War in the United States by such violent drug-dealing insurrection and rebellion.

Move the **** three miles to Maryland or Virginia."No taxation without representation"
Move the **** three miles to Maryland or Virginia.
The DC statehood push has been nothing but a dishonest, creepy attempt to get more automatic democrat votes in Congress.
DC was established as it is before anyone living there was born. They knew the circumstance going in.
Democrats are pathologically dishonest.
It's the liberal Battle Cry does not apply..."No taxation without representation"
No, it actually doesn't. They can live 3 miles away and commute to their job at Starbucks. People have to suffer all sorts of disadvantages because of decisions their ancestors made. Why should not having representation be any different?Except for those born in the District you want them to completely uproot themselves from their communities and leave or pay taxes without representation. The area that makes up Washington D.C. needs people to live there in order to function otherwise you're going to create an economic dead zone.
Who the citizens of this new state vote for is irrelevant in deciding statehood.

How would that have undone any of the injustices committed by George III?Sure, why didn't George Washington just shut his pie hole and move to England. Nobody forced his 'ancestors' to come here.
Article 1 section 8Where in the Constitution does it say that D.C. CAN'T be a state?

Obama is the prisoner Martha's Vineyard there may be some issues with his DNA...And right after that island comes Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, Block Island, Naushon, St. Lawrence Island, Fisher's Island, Plum Island (germ warfare lab there - so you want to discriminate against Germs voting?), Catalina and about 500 more. Oh, I left out Diomede (Little Diomede - Big Diomede is Russian but the people there might vote to become an American state if given the chance by The U.N.)
Technically I suppose the White House could be its own country I'm taking the Supreme Court home to VermontBut the opinion is true. The constitution prohibits our capitol from being in a state.
The capitol doesn't have to be in the new state. The boundaries for that state can be drawn to exclude the capitol.
Problem solved.
Technically they are Representatives with a non-voting lower house mumber just like VermontResidents of those states can be represented by Senators and Congressmen. Residents of DC cannot
DC residents pay more Federal Taxes than 22 other states.
Taxation without representation
No, Opinion peaceopinion piece
I think we're missing the point here I'm talking about the 2/3 and 3/4 ratificationOr just give the parts of DC with people living in them back to Virginia and Maryland.
The Chinese own Catalina..heh I love the whole concept of Fishers Island the time machine. And right after that island comes Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, Block Island, Naushon, St. Lawrence Island, Fisher's Island, Plum Island (germ warfare lab there - so you want to discriminate against Germs voting?), Catalina and about 500 more.
