That’s just you who is doing that. I’m scratching my head why you would give a shit. Seriously. Don’t you have better things to do than complain about what Catholics do? Worry about yourself. Because from where I sit, you have plenty of things to worry about, and concerning yourself with the religious practices of others isn’t on that list.
I worry about Catholics because I want all believers in Christ to be united in belief. Your response says nothing about how you view candles. Are they sacred to you?

Feel free to ignore what I say if that's your thing.

Horseshit.

So does music and mood lighting. The problem comes in when they rise to the level of an icon or idol, where someone thinks their prayers will be better heard if a candle is lit, or if a candle has to be lit for each person they are praying for, etc.
You have to be kidding! Do you honestly think candles and icons rise to the level of prayers being "better heard"!? How ludicrous! How about when people go into his/her closet? Does that rise to the level of being "better heard"? You worry so much about the ridiculous, I'm surprised you dare pray at all.

Okay, thus far we have statues and candles just being there because they're pretty and smell nice? Is that what you're trying to say? Why then do people specifically light a candle when they pray? I pray constantly and never feel the need to light a candle.

often i read things like ....Chritians and Catholics

but is Christian not a cover all term for Protestans and Catholicsvalice?is
There are true believers in most nominal Christian churches. There are also "tares", false brethren.

Hear what I am actually saying: Let's go back to creation. Was God's creation good and beautiful? Have you never experienced prayer when you are alone in nature, with natural beauty? That is clearly one of God's offerings to us. The flowers, candle flames, icons that surround one becomes an offering that is a part of our prayer--our love of God, our love and appreciation and thanksgiving for the blessings he has bestowed upon us. We are surrounded in the majesty of God...a joyful experience of his love and his peace. Do you ever experience joy and peace in your prayers?

Of course I do, that's one of the purposes of prayer in the first place, to enjoy the incomparable presence of God. I get it if all you're doing is putting pretty things in your church building. Do people, however, specifically light candles for prayers? Why do we hear people say they'll light a candle for someone? That's when it ceases to be just a pretty thing.

It's your thinking that is not pretty.

Lighting a candle is joining one's prayer on behalf of someone else to the Light of the World and placing it in his hands. Two or more prayers, kneeling before the Light of the World, a candle to add light to the world, praying God's will be done.

What is wrong with you? You come across as someone who must stomp on what other people of faith are doing to reassure yourself the way you are worshiping is much better than that of those people over there. Just keep in mind your own prayers are just fine, and stop sneering at the prayers of others.

Most Catholics do not vote for the Republican Party because it passes laws based upon a Biblical Worldview that invades the privacy of women if they become pregnant. They vote Democrat because they understand the meaning of separation of church and state in the United States of America.

I love this Christian. Wish there were more like him in every freaking red state that oppresses women. Specifically if they are Catholic. That would be good. Joe Biden is a Catholic you know St.Ding; he was a very good president.

You live in Texas don’t you St.Ding? Will you vote for this guy when he runs for Senator or will you vote for the end of democracy at the hands of the current Republican Party?

Not sneering at all, just pointing out inconvenient truths, and I'm seeing you come around to what I've been saying, that to many if not all Catholics the candles are sacred. They are not.

I want all to be free in Christ, not bound by rituals and images.

Heaven and hell were never the focus. The focus was on living a good life.
No one escapes eternal hell and damnation of being separated from God by living a good life………

It's not called "coming around" but knowing all along that Catholics do not believe candles are sacred. What a silly, mindless claim. Can candles be used for a sacred purpose? Absolutely, but they are not sacred in and of themselves.

Once more, trying to tear down something else because of fear your own worship does not measure up is pointless. Be satisfied with your own worship and stop with the fiction about the Catholic faith.

Good, that's what I wanted to hear, but kept getting stuff about them being pretty and special. Basically, they're nice but not necessary.

I'm not tearing anything down that is Biblically sound.

what does "biblically sound" mean?

what does "biblically sound" mean?
Does it agree with the Bible? Is it forbidden or allowed? Does the Bible even mention it? That sort of thing.

Let's take an absurd example and look at a cult that teaches all members have to worship the cult leader. Wrong.
Let's say it teaches that all members have to give up all belongings, friends and family. Wrong.

Those are things that are not Biblically sound.

Does a pastor teach that congregants are to love their neighbors and take care of those who need help? Right.
Does he teach that we are to admit to each other when we do wrong and pray for each other in our daily walk with God? Right.

Those are things that are Biblically sound.
