America
This is interesting and while I disagree in part, it is still worth a read.

Political cults are filling the space left by the decline of organized faiths.

"And so we’re mistaken if we believe that the collapse of Christianity in America has led to a decline in religion. It has merely led to religious impulses being expressed by political cults. Like almost all new cultish impulses, they see no boundary between politics and their religion. And both cults really do minimize the importance of the individual in favor of either the oppressed group or the leader."

'America’s New Religions'

Andrew Sullivan: America’s New Religions

"If the concept of God has any validity or any use, it can only be to make us larger, freer, and more loving. If God cannot do this, then it is time we got rid of Him." James Baldwin, 'The Fire Next Time'

I nor God give a fuck what James Baldwin says. :1peleas:

I'm getting to the age when I'm hording my fucks, personally.

At 64, I wouldn't want to give away a fuck for something frivolous, when I really don't have all that many remaining.

As to the subject, though, I figure political correctness is pretty much a religion these days. It's a case of faith without reason and punishment for any potential apostate.

Climate denial is the republican religion of choice these days, and Cheeto Jesus is it's prophet.

Care to debate it in the bull ring, chicken little.

Sealybobo chickened out. You can take his place.

I'm not sure who originally said this but, "A person who believes in nothing will believe in anything."

Track your friends and relatives who have turned their back on the religion they were raised with, and you will find people believing the most preposterous shit imaginable. Wiccans, Scientologists, whatever.

Make no mistake, there are scores of religious dogmas defining the political Left. Global warming. Evolution. The mythical value of "diversity." Gender fluidity. The equivalence of all cultures.

Let the class know when the Sun produces constant radiation to earth, until then the religion of Climate Change is a Socialist regressive tax on those working to produce the energy consuming elitists fuel to fly around and tell us we're causing the world to become a fireball.

How's that religion of Climate Change working in France now days?

I realize that being a devout Catholic is a shield that protects me from the weird shit that surrounds us.

What is "the most preposterous shit imaginable"? Look at the crap spilled out by timmy dolan, pope ratzinger, graham, jeffress, perkins, hagee. Pretty preposterous shit. Not anything that anyone in their right mind wants to get stuck with.

BTW: I've known some Wiccans. They do believe in something and actually have a very strict ethical code. Scientology seems to only be interested in money and science fiction. But then again, I watched jimmy and donny swaggert the other day, as well as some "sonlife,"--same deal.

Obviously from the rather silly and off point replies, no one read the OP. Sad. Witness the cheering crowds at a Trump rally in which lies and hate blend, and the religious cheer a man who has somehow become their savior as I wrote in a piece I'll link at bottom, when did Americans become so weak?

A few more James Baldwin quotes for thought.

"I can't believe what you say, because I see what you do." James A. Baldwin

"One cannot deny the humanity of another without diminishing one's own." James A. Baldwin

"It is certain, in any case, that ignorance, allied with power, is the most ferocious enemy justice can have." James A. Baldwin

"The reason people think it's important to be white is that they think it's important not to be black." James Baldwin

"The paradox of education is precisely this; that as one begins to become conscious one begins to examine the society in which he is being educated." James Baldwin

"The South is very beautiful but its beauty makes one sad because the lives that people live here, and have lived here, are so ugly." James Baldwin

I don’t disagree. It was entirely predictable.

Socialism is a special case of religion. One that is diametrically opposed to religion but operates like a religion in that it inflames its adherents. It is entirely predictable that opposition would rise up against it.

Of course it all looks like a religion because it is.

You conveniently left out "My fingers". ;)

So that means "Climate Change" is the religion of the left, amirite? It seems that's exactly what you just admitted.

IOW: Republicans are apostates of the Climate Change religion and Trump is their leader.

Btw: Who is the President of The United States?

It is one of their religious dogmas.

When are you going to get on board?
