Zone1 Pope Leo calls for peace, gives Putin a pass and criticizes Trump. That is politics, not a call for peace.

I will. I'm glad you replied because I was just thinking about this. He's such a good guy. He doesn't realize how good he is. I just got out of the hospital. Been there since Saturday. Not only did they watch my dog they got him a haircut and bath. He's the best.
I have sisters that are liberals. I know they are not stupid and I know they are not evil. So why would I assume other liberals are. I'm happy enough to give them some latitude to see what they are about.
I'm sure there were a lot of good German's who voted for Hitler. For the Nazi's. And my brother does have a negative opinion of Israel, so there's that.
Do you understand how superficial you are being with that comment?
And he's tainted by his wealth. He has forgotten where he came from. Lost some level of empathy I know he used to have. Still has it, but the more we see, the more we get conservative right?
Actually the more conservative I have gotten the more empathy I have gained. How do you know you are not confusing your brother's lack of empathy for his beliefs about accountability? Don't you believe people should be accountable? Or do you believe people should lie to get out of trouble and steal and cheat? If you are criticizing someone for lying, stealing or cheating, couldn't someone else say you lacked empathy because you weren't taking into consideration that they grew up poor?
Like I was telling him about my roommate at the hospital. WONTSAYFIRSTNAME "smiley" Valentine. A playa from Detroit. Has 20 kids. 12 boys 8 girls. 4 different women, some at the same time. Says he took care of his kids. But he also said he spent 20 years off and on in prison. So how did he take care of those kids? He didn't. We did.
Is this you lacking empathy or is it you bemoaning his lack of accountability.
Things like this make you an American Notsee. But he used to understand we put them where they are today. We made them 2nd class citizens. I haven't forgotten. I'm a DOSEE. I see. Like I'm woke and you two are asleep.
No one today was around back then. Not the victims and not the perpetrators. So are you really a DOSEE? Because I don't think you DOSEE reality. I think you see what you want to see. I'm trying to help you see everything.
But I can't tell my brother this.
Why not? Don't you trust him?
That's why I come here. I just ask him about certain things in the news that I know will trigger him or see what his spin on it is.
That's called gaslighting. Doesn't he deserve better?
I forgot his most recent spin he heard from the Wall Street Journal on how/why Iran is a good idea. Yea, for American BUSINESS'. Not Americans. And could lead to WW3.
He's wrong about that. The only thing that will come from this is a whole lot of suffering. Which I hope I am wrong about because if I am right this could be pretty bad. But maybe from that suffering something good will arise. Who knows? We'll see.
I mean honestly, why are we at war with Iraq? Same question we asked about Saddam. Oh he was a bad man. Killed a lot of his people. BLABLABLA Not our problem. Who's next after Iran? And we can't even "win" in Iran. Same way we never "won" in Iraq.
Two different situations.
I'm smarter that you and my brother when it comes to this stuff. You two just think you're smart.
I never claimed to be smart but what you are doing is called the dunning effect and not the good dunning effect either. The bad dunning effect.
Anyways, he just bought a new 1.2 million dollar home. He has forgotten the under $100,000 class a long time ago. His CEO bosses took him on a business trip and convinced him he is a Republican. I think he's rich enough to be one although I don't think he even benefits from Republicans. But he keeps asking me if I've checked my investments lately. So the stock market is good? It was good under Biden too. And Trump ain't worth the drama. Hitler was good for business too. Lots of spending on bombs and planes.
Anyone who has not hedged against a debauched dollar is a fool and deserves what he gets. As for normal market ups and downs, hold onto your britches. It's going to be a shaky ride until Iran is resolved and I don't see that happening. So there's a strategy for that too which is a bit like riding on the back of a tiger.
Today I said to him "do you know how you can tell if a person comes from self made money or is born into it? A self made man still moves his own furniture into his $1.2 million dollar home". We laughed. He said "I'm also painting the place".
You shouldn't be afraid to talk to him. Just be respectful and curious. Don't be judgemental.

You make a lot of sense. Yea, I guess now as an older man with money I look at younger people who expect to just have it all always, without working for it, I want to smack them and tell them that's not how it works. And no, there is no social safety net for slackers because wayyyy too many of you are going to take it. In the past, very few people sucked off uncle sams tits. Today most of America are a bunch of freeloaders. OMG I could go on and on.

I see Affirmative action is bullshit. To be honest. There was a time, from my view, I saw that it was obvious that affirmative action was necessary. Statistically it was and is obvious that whites hold all the power structure in this country. But so what? That's the way this country was founded. The greatest country was started by ruthless capitalists who treated workers like shit. We just happened to live in a great time. When our parents got paid a fair wage, and we had a chance to do better than most too by going to college and finding a job in corporate America. And that still exists, but it's just become more unaffordable for the masses. But so what? That's just the way it is. Things change. And AI and Automation are going to take jobs. Don't have kids. And we aren't. And I won't rely on SS, although I'm going to lose it and storm the capitol if they cut my social security 20% or whatever. I will lose it, because THEY have spent up all our money. Have you heard $50 BILLION on Iraq? Makes the $1.7 billion Barrack gave them seem like a drop in the bucket. Yet they cried and cried about that deal didn't they? Suckers.

Yes, you guys are notsees. I'm sorry but you are good people, but you voted for a mad man. And very few of you have yet to admit it. And impeach him. On what? How about everything? Where to start? How about the 25th amendment or whatever you call it? How about congress tell him they voted no to his wars. Cuba too. No Cuba. And no Greenland. You don't have the authority.

Am I getting tariff money back?

As with most things it's a balancing act. I work at being curious instead of judgemental. It's quite powerful.

I know it may not seem like it, but I'm a lot easier to convince, or change my mind about things than most.

The one thing I'm pretty sure of is that man made climate change is real and a big problem. I was watching Neal Degrass Tyson on Stephen Colbert last night. I think he knows a lot more about GW than you and the climate change deniers.

You may want to ask yourself why he isn't convince about it the same way you are. You seem pretty judgeMENTAL about this issue.

Sorry, but I can't get past previous interglacial periods that were warmer. What we are experiencing today is normal.

Neal says wake up before it's too late.

Neil deGrasse Tyson often highlights that Earth's atmosphere is remarkably thin and fragile relative to the planet's size, famously comparing it to the skin of an apple. This thin layer is all that protects life on Earth, extending only 100 kilometers (62 miles) up to the conventional edge of space (the Kármán line).

Do you want the earth to become the moon?

Neil needs to study the heat in the ocean and how the circulation of that heat can cause abrupt glaciation and deglaciation in the northern hemisphere which is the dominant climate feature of the planet for the last 3 million years. Then Neil needs to compare the heat storage of the ocean - which is 1000 times that of the atmosphere - to the atmosphere. Then Neil needs to compare the mass of the ocean - which is 300 times that of the atmosphere - to the atmosphere and then get back to me. Also you might have him do a technical paper search on the ocean causing abrupt glaciation and deglaciation so that he can review the enormous amount of data and evidence for how the ocean is responsible for climate changes. Then he might see what REAL science looks like. Neil deGrasse Tyson is not a scientist anymore. He's a performer. You probably like him because he's an atheist like you.

I'm sure he has. You should ask him. I'll cut and paste your question to him.
