You either want to be treated like everyone else or you don't.......and when you have to make a point of it publically, then you want to be treated differently.

Being out as a lesbian is a political statement. I don't usually announce it to anyone, but when someone inquires if I'm married, I fess up that I'm married to a woman.

My father did not have the freedom to live openly as a gay man.

The problem, as I see it, is that it has to be political to GLBT people. Because in order for them to live openly, they had to fight for it... and that made it political. I don't think we can come to any conclusion about the sexuality of people based on what toys they play with.
