Why is it always Atheists vs Christians?

And here's the magical thing about atheist *smartness*, and what makes it supernatural...

It is the atheist creed itself that makes people smart, they believe. It exists independently of natural intelligence or education. Even the most assbackward, uneducated HICK atheist has more smarts in his little pinky than any Oxford prof who ever existed.

Just ask hollie.

It is the Atheists who need the 'choke collar' as they want their religion to be the official state religion. The founders wrote that a country is better with 'many sects.' Atheists wan't NO sects but themselves.

You make a common mistake of defining Atheism as a "religion" when it is no such thing.

It's a belief system that defines your view of life

Naw.

It's more of a "disbelief". And nothing systematic about it..I seldom think about religion until I am confronted with it.

This is exactly why atheism is not a religion. It is non- belief in any of that. Atheism has no beliefs whatsoever concerning anything. It is the simple rejection of all known religious beliefs. You are thoroughly confused as to what atheism actually is.

Atheism is a choice to not seek after God. That choice is founded on the idea that there is no God. That idea is fostered by the premise that there can be no God. The premise is the result of a belief that God doesn't demonstrate that He exists. The person who holds such a belief is mad at God because God didn't do something for that individual. So the choice is the result of a belief.

They also feel compelled to gain converts.

Well no.

I just wish people would keep this sort of stuff..private. I don't want to hear about your sex life either.

:eusa_shhh:

Yes it is. See my previous post.

I saw your previous post. It was falsely configured.

Please define for us the rituals, practices and tenets of Atheism which are analogous to religious rituals, practices and tenets.

What is the “book of Atheism” that would be analogous to a religious “holy book”.

Is there a particular location where Atheists regularly gather to not believe”?

Atheism has no practices, customs, beliefs or “philosophies.” Atheism is simply the rejection of the Theistic model as undemonstrated, unsupported and bereft substantiation.

Fortunately, I’m not saddled with the compulsive admonition of “believe as you’re told or be consigned to everlasting pain and torment.” Think about it, what is the best way to get someone to believe as you wish for them to? FEAR. Scare the hell out of him. Tell the people that “evolutionists”, “those who don’t believe as you do”, etc., are on a paved road to hell....and you will deter them (for a time) until they LEARN better.

You made a few mistakes in your earlier post. First in assuming if there is a god, then we have to establish which god it was that created. If there is a god, then there is only one God, and that by the very definition of the term God.

So first, you must define your terms here. What do you mean by "god(s)"? There are many conceptions of gods, ranging from incorporeal entities to long haired hippies walking around in sandals. Additionally, there have been something on the order of 14,000 “versions” of god(s). Can you make the irrefutable case of your conception of god having primacy over all others?

I’m not assuming that god(s) exist or don’t exist. I’m reaching a conclusion based upon the evidence at hand. The fact is, there is no evidence that god(s) exist.

****A set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.****

Doesn't say it ALWAYS involves rituals or practices.

Atheists are so anti-religion they can't simply admit they have one too.
They even get just as defensive as a member of any other religion when theirs is questioned, or even just pointed out to them.

It's okay to admit it.
It's not like you're going to confession and saying five Hail Marys or anything

You make many claims and assign "belief" to others when your claims and assignments are false. There is no "belief" required to reject claims of gawds, the Easter Bunny or other such flights of the imagination.

While it is true that many cultures had deities and superstitions, clearly not all were theistic in intent or in practice. There have been cultures which assigned causes of natural events to many supernatural agents, not necessarily gods. However, I certainly do acknowledge that more recent cultures have invented many gods to account for natural processes they didn't understand. Gods of fire, gods of the oceans, gods of rain, gods of thunder, lightning, etc., etc., have shared time with various mystical entities. But that says nothing about whether the claims are true or not. Most religions make absolute claims, and thus most of those claims contradict each other. Therefore the only certainty is that most absolute religious claims are actually false.

We are also profoundly superstitious as a people. We, however (for some inexplicable, probably selfish reasons) call our preferred superstitions "religions" and assign them a certain deference that would appear to me they don’t really deserve. You, personally, may not believe all religions are from god, the bad news is that you don’t get a vote on which is the true definition of god(s). God or god(s) seem to have left many contradictory conceptions of what they expect people to accept. Whether a single one of these definitions is true or something completely different, you simply have to deal with it. You don’t really get a vote in the matter and it’s not a majority rules issue.

I am not asking holly because you SPECIFICALLY stated that I proved your point when I stated THE EXACT OPPOSITE. I have never claimed that my nonbelief is any better or superior to your beliefs. I was VERY specific in that.

It appears YOU seem to think that you are superior as you are TELLING ME what I believe and that when I state the opposite, I am incorrect. That is rather warped.

Could be that you personally have not said it. However it is implied with every comment that's meant to insult, riducule or mock Christian belief. You may not be guilty of doing this but so many atheist are.

Religion certainly includes an idea of a God under whom man is inherently subservient, but religion also governs the belief system undergirding the way people think about, and live, their lives.

Atheists are, in fact, some of the most religious people.

First, they have a functioning God under whom they are subservient (normally it’s science or rationality, but mainly themselves), and that idea of God informs the way they live and interpret their lives. It informs their biases and determines their values, and governs any sense of morality or ethics they adhere too, or ignore.

Once that’s all settled all that’s left is the preaching.

And they preach all the time.

This new breed of atheists is obsessed with the idea of God. They write books, deliver speeches, comment-bomb the evangelical blogosphere and generally rant on ad nauseam about the ills of believing in God.

Honestly – comically – some atheists must type the word “God” on the Internet five times more often than most Christians I know and they do it with the fury of a fire-and-brimstone zealot!

Maybe no one invokes the name of “God” more than they, and they are doing so in more and more virulent ways such as the shocking moment when Dr. Dawkins recently told Al-Jazeera television that he believed being raised Catholic was in itself even more psychologically damaging than being abused by a priest!

Instead of just ignoring God, or the idea of God, atheist preachers feel somehow compelled to rid the Earth of him; so they argue endlessly that theists can’t prove God exists without confessing that they can’t prove he doesn’t either.

They don't have to keep that sort of stuff private. Just as they don't have to keep their sexuality private, or their color private.

They have a right to flaunt it.

hollie doesn't read.

She just likes to disparage the intelligence of atheists. Atheists dont' need no stinkin book larnin!

Well, if you read that as an op-ed on fox news, t must be true.

I'll propose legislation banning any critique, criticism or complaints aimed at Christians.

"Hurting Christian's feelings" will thus be a criminal offense.

Did you read it?

Or did you just notice it was from Fox and dismiss it?
It was a lot of silly tripe.

Do you feel better about yourself for posting silly tripe?

How you define atheism is important for this discussion.

For some it means denial of the possibility of any god(s). For others it simply means not believing in any god(s), but doesn't deny the possibility.

Many people consider the second definition to be agnostic rather than atheist.

No, trust me, you've proven my point.

Atheists believe they are supernaturally endowed with greater powers of reasoning than any religious person, anywhere. They're just that much smarter and more clever, and better.

That is, in and of itself, a loony belief system. And it's what defines atheists.

That and their bizarre desire to convert the world to their worldview. I guess they want everybody to get this special smartness that atheism has bestowed upon THEM.

Atheists are basically pro faith and anti science. It takes more faith to be a non believer than to be a believer. The atheist says that they cannot believe in a God they cannot see. So they don't believe in sub atomic particles either. The atheist claims they will not believe in the existence of something that cannot be proved. That means that Higgs-Bosun cannot be proved.

We know that sub atomic particles exist because of the affect they have on other particles that we can see. We know that Higgs Bosun exists because everything has mass. No one has ever seen a quark. What's a muon? Do you know? Have you ever seen one? Can we prove that muons exist to the satisfaction of the ignorant dullards that watch American Idol? No. They are atheists.

An experiment that tracks subtle motions of subatomic particles called muons has found tantalizing evidence for a vast shadow universe of normally unseen matter existing side by side with ours, scientists at the Brookhaven National Laboratory said yesterday.

The significance of the findings has been thrown into doubt by a series of mathematical errors and theoretical disagreements by physicists around the world who have been weighing the evidence for what would, if correct, rank as one of the greatest discoveries in science.

The Brookhaven ''g minus 2'' experiment has produced extraordinarily minute observations of the gyrating muons. In a dispiriting turn for the experimenters, though, the theoretical predictions of how encounters with ordinary matter should affect the dance of the particles have come into doubt. Only through differences between the expected and observed behavior of the muons (pronounced MEW-ahnz) could the existence of new matter be inferred.

This is also how we can infer the existence of God.

Hollie cannot empirically or philosophically disprove the existence of god. No one ever has. End of subject.

They aren't just anti-science, they're anti-EDUCATION. Read that driveler hollie's crap; or her rants against OXFORD hahahaha....she's an ignorant yahoo...yet she postures as if she's the intellectual superior of everybody around her, because she's ATHEIST.

It's phucking hilarity incarnate.
