I can't use Gunny as an example because I've never been neg-repped by him.

What is the point of the REP system? Is it to show that you have been around for a long time and generally conduct yourself in decent fasion? Is it to prove that you debate the ISSUSE rather than engage in rampant charachter assaisination? Or is it to be used as a FIRST resort to try to damage other people's REP? If it's the latter then it is NOTHING more then a thug with a bat. If I say something that someone doesn't like then tell me so and WHY you have a problem with my view point and I'll try to DEFEND my position and try to convince you I am right. LOL! As far as my thug with a bat comparison I am saying that to neg REP ESPECIALLY multiple times for a single comment is like bringing a BAT to a debate. It is NOT discussing the topic it is using your Rep to attack the other poster and I would think that when you get to a 100 + in Rep you should have the type of temperment to not feel that Neg reping is a valid argument.


Like I said I am over it. She can neg rep me all she wants and I will continue to Pos rep most people and out debate those whose only come back to an argument is to neg rep.

I started neg (and pos) repping after I watched a about three people who liked to neg rep me accumulate obscene amounts of rep in a short amount of time (this was quite a while back), then use that power to keep the rep points of anyone they didn't agree with, down.

I haven't seen anyone accumulate rep points that fast in a long time, the mods tweaked the system so I believe it's difficult for that to happen now. But now when I see some fucktard come on the board thinking he or she is going to spend all his time posting complete bullshit hate, I neg rep them to keep their points down so I don't get in the position over the barrel again.

Also, it is often more effective than talking when it comes to teaching manners. I'm not big on manners, but some behavior is just too over the top. And the people who exhibit those behaviors are oblivious to argument or consideration. Those same people usually react very strongly to neg reps.

No single user can ding you or credit you more than once for any single post. You CAN however, get multiple dings from multiple users, for a single post.

Edit to add: I think the above doesn't apply to admin and Mods. Could be mistaken on that, however.

You cannot give or deduct reputation more than once for the same post, no matter how much time passes or how many other posts you credit/deduct from.

Well like I said I am over it. It occurred to me that I was talking out both sides of my mouth. Claiming neg rep doesn't bother me but starting a thread where I complain about it. I just like GOOD DEBATE and feel neg rep is kind of a cheap shot unless it is in response to the most VILE shit like there used to be on the MSNBC board.

I think everybody likes positive reinforcement whether they admit it or not. I try to be honest in my debate and measured inmy complaints. Like I said you all have helped me to understand how off base bitching about neg rep was. I will go on and hopfully I make enough good points that lots of people will rep me. If not oh well.
