At Yale University, a black student fell asleep in the study hall, and a white student called the police because she said the black girl had no right to be there. The police came and grilled the black girl, who was a student living in the dorm. She had EVERY right to be there. Nothing happened to the white girl who made this report.
I remember that story. As someone who worked two blocks from the Yale campus for more than three years, I wondered why she didn’t simply show them her school issues photo ID. You know, the one every student is supposed to carry with them while on campus. Considering the geographic location of Yale’s campus, I can understand why there would be concern about a minority student lounging in the library.
