Wallace: So my question to you is, you have refused in the past to talk about it, are you willing to tell the American tonight whether or not you will support either ending the filibuster or packing the court?
Biden refused to answer, something the Trump quickly challenged. Here's the colloquy:
BIDEN: Whatever position I take on that, that'll become the issue. The issue is the American people should speak. You should go out and vote. You're voting now. Vote and let your Senators know strongly how you feel.
TRUMP: Are you going to pack the court?
BIDEN: Vote now.
TRUMP: Are you going to pack the court?
BIDEN: Make sure you, in fact, let people know, your Senators.
TRUMP: He doesn't want to answer the question.
BIDEN: I'm not going to answer the question.
TRUMP: Why wouldn't you answer that question? You want to put a lot of new Supreme Court Justices. Radical left.
BIDEN: Will you shut up, man?
TRUMP: Listen, who is on your list, Joe? Who's on your list?
WALLACE: Gentlemen, I think we've ended this —
BIDEN: This is so un-Presidential.
TRUMP: He's going to pack the court. He is not going to give a list.
These 2 issues are to my mind essential to protecting our democracy. There's a thing called the tyranny of the majority, and it means that 51% of the Congress gets to make legislation that governs 100% of the rest of us. That's why the Senate requires 60 votes to close debate on legislation, so that the minority party is not shutout of the process. That rule is supposed to force compromise and cooperation at some level, otherwise nothing would get done and the electorate doesn't like that. And it was presumed that the both parties would bargain in good faith to gain something for their side and they would work out a deal. Which of course we don't have today, that's why we have made so little progress on the issues that matter to the country as a whole. If the majority party doesn't have 60 votes today, it's gridlock. And I don't think either party is blameless.
So - the fact that Biden will not state that he supports ending the filibuster or maintain it actually tells you he will let the Senate decide if the Dems take the Senate. Trump has said he wants to end it, unless I'm mistaken. But Biden won't say one way or the other and that is political cowardice. All this shit about letting the voters decide but he left out the part where he's being dishonest about the filibuster, packing the court, and other things. I'll be honest here, I believe there are enough Repubs who will not support ending the filibuster; I am not at all sure the same can be said for the Dems.
The other thing is packing the court. With the addition of ACB to the SCOTUS, many Dems are talking about increasing the number of justices on the SCOTUS to where the number of liberal judges would outnumber the number of conservative ones, like maybe changing from 9 to 15. When asked about that, Biden refused to answer the question. Here again, he tells us to go out and vote but he doesn't tell us his position on packing the court. So, we are left with the assumption that his answer is yeah I'm for it if we get the Senate. But he didn't have the guts to say so; one thing about Trump, he ain't afraid to tell us anything. You might not agree with what he says or like the way he says it, by damn you know where he stands.
I don't think allowing 51% of the Congress to decide everything for us is a good thing for our democracy. The opposition should be heard and have some power of their own, and it should be on them as well as the majority party to work in good faith to arrive at the best possible solutions. But if the opposition is totally shut out then the 49% of the people represented by the minority party are have no voice in the decision-making. And that ain't good for our democracy.

Two crucial things emerged from the first presidential debate
The short version of the debate is that Biden did well if one ignored that almost every other statement he made was a lie or fantasy; Trump dominated him, almost too aggressively; and Chris Wallace may have been the worst and most obviously biased&nb...
