Zone1 Why do Protestants "always" try to insult Catholics?

well said! 😊
Well, an LDS missionary once said he and his companion were in Hispanic home converts from the Catholic Church to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were sitting on their couch and saw on the mantle of the fireplace, a small golden statue of the Angel Moroni (From the Book of Mormon). The father of the home said, "See, we pray to the statue Moroni every day." The missionaries straightened them out and began a refresher course of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. And, not to pray to or in front of statues. Same thing with crosses that are jewelry. Don't kiss them because that is a form of worship. You can wear them as it can be a good reminder to act in accordance with your belief that you are a disciple of Christ. But, that's it. And stop worshipping men and women dressed in their religious garb. Worship the Father in the name of the Son. That's what Jesus taught.

/----/ A friend in high school declared that unless you attended the First Baptist Church in Greenville, SC, you were condemned to hell damnation. That's right, billions of people going back eons long before that church was formed were going to hell.
And he was the nicest guy you ever wanted to meet, a track star, and would help you out any way he could. He carried a bible everywhere he went.

funny! 😎

I just had this one poster (can't remember what topic) tell me, after I suggested a website he could go to in order to learn about Catholicism:

"I'll stick to following Jesus"

It's the usual way Protestants

That was me and I'm NOT a Protestant. I'm a follower of Jesus and follow his commandments as well as those of his apostles. The Catholic Church determined that their ministry was insufficient and so added a bunch of doctrines that oftentimes CONTRADICT their teachings or are nowhere to be found in the scriptures.

God told us through Paul that the scriptures are sufficient so that the man of God may be COMPLETE! So why doesn't the Catholic Church stick to the scriptures?

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 may be complete, equipped for every good work.

And then there is God's warning, again through Paul, that if someone teaches a different gospel (doctrine) let them be accursed!

Galatians 1:8-9
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. 9As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.

Catholics follow a false system that does NOT emanate from God. You are certainly free to follow the Catholic Church but I will follow Jesus.

I mean, it kind of blows me away, the closed-minded-ness

Open your mind to the truth and stick to the scriptures rather all of the false teachings of the worldly Catholic Church. Do you understand what it means to be of the world?

Well, one thing I can do is use the great feature here: Ignore. Why should I be the least bit bothered that they do this kind of thing?

If they want to end up in Hell for rejecting Christ's TRUE Church (again, NO LONGER @ the Vatican), that is on them. I've done my part.

So he says that people who stick to the scriptures are going to Hell. Amazing. His Himalayan ego, pride, and vanity has blinded him to the truth. His Catholic masters indeed teach that non-Catholics go to Hell, but there is no basis in scripture for that monolithic HERESY.

He's wrong, of course. I stick to the scriptures and the Apostle Paul said that they are sufficient for the man of God to be "complete". He didn't say anything about mandatory involvement with a "universal" church or that Peter, whom he once publicly admonished, was the head of it.

The sad fact is that the ancient Roman Empire hijacked and defiled the early church there. I encourage you to attempt to reconcile the teachings of the Catholic Church with what the Bible says. That's what I did and then left it after being a Catholic for 50 years.

It's the usual way Protestants I have encountered over the years interact with Catholics who adhere to their Faith: Insult them (by insinuating that they are following Christ and you, you disgusting Catholic, are not.)

I just can't believe some of the rot I hear from some of these posters... I mean, it kind of blows me away, the closed-minded-ness... the lack of interest in Church history OR Church teachings. They don't investigate Catholicism... and yet try to come across like they are experts on it.

It has to do w/the Pope being infallible and all that other stuff.

It's simply not Biblical.

Which, unfortunately, comes out as mocking, insults and/or derision from too many self-proclaimed Christians.

Personally, I don't seek to offend anyone of any faith, or no faith.

Insults are not Christlike.

The Catholic Church teaches that Jesus is wrong. They teach that Jesus's sacrifice on the cross is insufficient. They teach that being a faithful follower of Jessus is insufficient. Instead, they teach that one MUST be a member of the universal (Catholic) church. That is a monolithic LIE and HERESY.

Do you, the reader, believe that Jesus was correct or wrong when he said this?

John 11:25-26
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

You're ignorant enough for me to consider Ignore

Ignore is being considered

You show your ignorance. And like I told Foghorn

you may be ignorant enough for me to consider Ignore.

I'm tired of intellectually lazy people who act like they know it all when they haven't studied a damn thing, or they studied some BS that some human wrote who didn't like the Catholic Church for whatever personal reason, which was the case w/ Luther -erstwhile Catholic priest-who didn't want to be celibate any longer.

Correct me where you think I'm wrong.

Correct me where you think I'm wrong.
I just posted a video on antipope Francis, as Peter Dimond calls him. I'm not sure which Religion topic I posted it under.

But it explains the anti-Catholic stuff going on -- not in the Catholic Church--but the Vatican

Found it

It's in the thread

Trump the Next Pope?

which is the state church of the roman empire ...

The main difference is authority: Old Catholics reject the pope's papal infallibility and universal jurisdiction, while the Roman Catholic Church is under the pope's leadership. Old Catholics maintain Apostolic Succession but are an independent communion, allowing married and female clergy, using the vernacular in worship, and embracing ecumenical dialogue. The Old Catholic churches split from Rome primarily after Vatican I in the 1870s over the new dogma of papal authority.

seems there are protestant catholics as well ...

the church of the roman empire has never known either the 1st century events or the itinerant that led them than the conclusion of those events they then made into their own.

Sometimes truth comes across as

(fill in the blanks... "mocking... derision..." )

But that doesn't change it from being the truth. It is your subjective notion of "truth" that has you thinking that the statements of the True Church are... (again, fill in the blanks)

If you knew Catholicism, you'd have a different perspective but you refuse to study it. I guess you're afraid to because you may be found to be wrong. If so, that's Pride, one of the deadly sins.

There is no salvation outside the Church Christ Himself founded. Sorry you think Jesus sounds mean and divisive... Maybe it is humans who are that...

So you're saying that Protestants don't go to Heaven?

And just when I was about to say that yes, many Catholics love Jesus and will go there.

I cannot change Truth. I cannot change God. And why would I? I'm very glad God doesn't lower himself to our level just because His ways sound "divisive and exclusionary."

Jesus founded a Church. It stands to reason that everyone calling him or herself a Christian should belong to it.

Am I right so far?

And if that Church says there is no salvation outside of it, I think it would be wise to believe that, or at least try to believe it (it may be difficult since we have had 500 years of heresy from Luther et al).

There was a monk (possibly St Bernard?) who died and then appeared to someone he knew, probably someone in the monastery... told him that when he died, something like 32,000 people also died (exact # was given but I cannot recall the exact # but it was over 32,000)

One went directly to Heaven, 2 went to Purgatory to be purified before entering Heaven
and all the rest fell into Hell

The Catholic Church teaches that Jesus is wrong.

You're a heretic !

Here is what Catholics believe:

I believe in God, the Father almighty,Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.

He descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

You're a heretic !
Here is what Catholics believe:

Nope.

Jesus said we have to put our faith and trust in him and follow his commandments. The Catholic Church disagrees with Jesus because they teach that one MUST be an active member of the Catholic Church or else they're going to Hell. I'll provide the Catechism from the "Holy See" for a THIRD time to support my statement.
