I entered the word "Mormon" in the search routine and checked "Search Titles Only".

It came up with eight pages. I was surprised to an extent, although it does appear that Mitt Romney's presidential run did seem to generate many of them.

I see many on "evidence" of the Book of Mormon.

I see many on how the Mormon Religion is false.

I saw several attacking Jospeh Smith.

I can't say I ever thought about going after the Catholic Church (I don't know if there is anything to go after) or any of the protestant churches.

I wonder about the time spent attacking anyone...just because I have questions about how people approach faith.

Where does "faith" enter into the discussion (not about mormons, but about fundamental things like the Atonement of the Saviour) and how does that discussion look when it takes place.

Ultimately, what does your faith hope for....what is your expecation in the eternal sense.

What does that conversation look line between a Muslim and a Catholic? A Jew and a Buhdist?

I would contend that this is a more productive conversation, as long as it is an exchange of ideas. Telling someone how to live does not work. Inviting them to try something seems much much more respectful. But even then, that has to acknowledge certain things.

This not about mormonism, although the mormon definition of faith is sure to arise. This is about why we do what we do and what we think it will accomplish.

I focus on fact.

Faith is not fact. Just the opposite.

My faith is an individual relationship with God, guided by the Holy Spirit. I cannot nor believe anyone can direct any other person spiritually we can discuss and teach each other as in a pastor or preacher would but an individual is led by the Holy Spirit on their own path. As a believer we are all ministers of Gods word and are free to follow our own conscience as led by Gods Word and the Holy Spirit through prayer.

Jesus taught that the Kingdom of God is in the reach of all; we can enter into this kingdom in this life and it extends into eternity. We start out with knowing God, loving God, and serving God. We follow God's Law/Commandments and the Way of Jesus' teachings in our individual, every-day lives. We have faith in God's words, His ways--so, through faith, we incorporate them into our own lives.

Faith is trusting that a fact works. For example, scripture teaches us to place God first in our lives. Fact. Faith is trusting placing God first in life brings the desired result of a blessed life.

Faith is hope and thats what inspires people to rise above their ability and discover they can achieve more then they thought. Without hope there is anxiety, fear of failure and worse then failure never trying.

Actually god wants you to believe in yourself. He has more important things to do then watch over you

Faith is trusting that a belief works. Facts are not faith based.

I always thought that hope is hope and faith is faith. I never realized that faith is hope. Does that mean that hope is faith?

Do you think we should ask google AI about this?

All you need to know:

"In March 1786, Jefferson and John Adams went to London to negotiate with Tripoli's envoy, ambassador Sidi Haji Abdrahaman (or Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja). When they enquired "concerning the ground of the pretensions to make war upon nations who had done them no injury", the ambassador replied:

It was written in their Koran, that all nations which had not acknowledged the Prophet were sinners, whom it was the right and duty of the faithful to plunder and enslave; and that every mussulman who was slain in this warfare was sure to go to paradise. He said, also, that the man who was the first to board a vessel had one slave over and above his share, and that when they sprang to the deck of an enemy's ship, every sailor held a dagger in each hand and a third in his mouth; which usually struck such terror into the foe that they cried out for quarter at once."

Oh, I suspect there is much much more to know than just that.

One does not preclude the other. Shrug. I guess I am important enough to watch over. (Along with everyone else.)

Jesus taught that the Kingdom of God is in the reach of all;
Yes, he did. But he also indicates you can cut yourself off. It's up to us.

He offered the supreme gift. We still must accept it.
We have faith in God's words, His ways--so, through faith, we incorporate them into our own lives.
In my world, we call that a testimony or more sure knowledge.

Faith become knowledge as you experiment on it and gain experience. The goal is to become converted in heart and soul.

15th post
Faith is trusting that a fact works.
Faith is a belief in something you can't directly see.

As you "experiment upon the word" your faith slowly transitions to knowledge. Not just an intellectual know, but a complete acceptance that is beyond conciousness.

It is a process that goes on throughout life and will continue beyond that.

That is what I have been taught and found to be true (to avoid the absolutness I talked about earlier).

I think your first sentence is important.

We don't need to read to much into this.

God loves us and wants what is best for us.

But, as evidenced by his Son and other examples, he uses resources in his kingdom to accomplish his work.
