This conversation has moved from universal health care to the economic policies of Ronald Reagan.

I will tell why Reagan was elected and reelected. During the 1960's racial moderates thought that by supporting the civil rights legislation and the War on Poverty they were buying racial peace.

What they got instead were five years of black ghetto rioting and more enduring increases in black social pathology. They felt betrayed and began voting Republican. The tax revolt that put Reagan in the White house and kept him thee for eight years was a draft riot against the War on Poverty.

I continue to vote Democrat because of Democrat stands on taxing, spending, universal health coverage, and the environment. I agree with the Republicans on the issues of crime, race, and immigration.
