Why do they believe that the only way to better health is through medical healthcare funded by medical insurance. Why is lifestyle either virtually ignored or barely mentioned. Are Americans so sick that only our doctors can save us? And, if Americans are so ignorant about good health practices where are the health experts that would teach them the way to good health?

I remember when Michelle Obama pushed better meals for school kids and she was crucified over it. JFK has a worm in his brain but restoring a focus on non artifical materials in food is a good thing.

Big Pharma has their hands in the cookie jar (DC), that's why. I've said for several decades now that lobbyists should not be allowed anywhere near politicians.

Where is the money in that?

And yet your RAGE when Ron Desantis tells people in Florida they can't buy candy, soda, and cigarettes with welfare money.
Not that I am into subsidizing the candy and soda industries. And you can't buy cigarettes with EBT.

You guys seem to think that denying these people the ability to enjoy the small comforts in life will spur them to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. And that might could happen, if we eliminate the benefits cliff. But until then, it is pissing in the wind. As to the health results, if they are not living healthy under the status quo they ain't going to live healthy under any changes in the ability to purchase soft drinks and snacks.

Because it's not the job of the government.

The Federal government has no legitimate role in healthcare, other than for the Armed Forces and Veterans.

But Democrats long ago cast off the constraints of Article I and the Tenth Amendment, realizing that they can essentially buy votes with "free" government services and stuff. Every vicissitude that life might throw at us can be alleviated or resolved by Government, if only Republicans weren't standing in the way.

So the Feds created agencies to regulate food, drugs, and various human activities, and took it upon itself to advise us what to eat, what to do, and what we should not eat or do.

I don't think many people endanger their health UNWITTINGLY; we do it on purpose, because instant gratification is more satisfying than long-term sacrifice for good health.

Sadly, many of us suffer from horrible diseases, circumstances, and conditions despite "doing everything right." You can eat right, watch your weight, exercise regularly, and avoid harmful stuff, and still suffer and die early.

Fortunately for me, at 76 y.o., it is no longer possible for me to die prematurely. I'm well past my sell-by date.

I recall Mrs. Obama trying to push a program geared toward making children eat better and exercise more

And I also recall conservatives losing their shit over it

Yet when MAHA is proposed the dems break out in little assholes and shit themselves.
Kinda like how you guys did during Obama's "get moving" initiative, or whatever it was?
