What does the California $20 minimum wage law actually do?

Speaking as a leftist, I'm never right. But really, Democracks can't do anything right. Go to McDonald's for instance, where you now have to order by Kiosk.

I saw a segment on this, I believe it was News Nation, but not positive.
A woman, who is a single parent, working in fast food in the Bay Area, was saying how necessary it was for the wage to be at least this high, but of course preferably higher.

She looked to be in her mid-30's, and I just shook my head.
First of all, why would you live in the fucking bay area if you are making minimum wage!
Second, who is forcing you to settle for working in the fast food industry?!!!!!!!!!!! It's called an 'entry-wage job'!!! Get off your ass and improve your education and skills, and make yourself more marketable for higher paying jobs! Christ, this isn't rocket science people!

It just amazes me, how Dimocrats see things. It's fucking mind-blowing!

It will allow the employees to make more money, but to compensate the restaurants, etc. will raise prices negating this increase. In return those who are on salary took a pay cut as the cost of goods go up.

If only the South had won the Civil War we wouldn’t be putting up with this nonsense of paying “the help” at all.

Same Guillotine Fodder, Different Masks

That anachronism is a mindless and totally ineffective attempt to persuade Aframs to vote Republican. The Party gurus who came up with it are taking the White vote for granted. So it is time for non-college Whites (who voted 67% for Trump) to take the Party away from the Old Right. Bidenistas who say we are fools for voting in Wall Street Republican never thought of that strategy, but it worked for the race traitors who took over the formerly Democratic Party in the 1960s.

In the election of 1948, 98% of the students at Harvard supported the Republican candidate; that part of the Richkid Reich had taken over Big Business by the 1970s, causing its crumbling decline. But the VP candidate in 1948 was Earl Warren, who started Preppy Progressivism in the 1950s as Chief Just-Us of SCROTUS, initiating the movement of the same Poison Ivy spoiled sheltered snobs to the Left, so that by now, the HeirHead Harvard Hierarchy is 98% for Big Government.

I'm starting to think robots might be a good idea.
Management by Imagination

Yes, robot-managers and ones running Corporate Headquarters wouldn't need to make wage-gouging salaries. So without that deadwood overhead making confused, ignorant, buzz-worded, and unstructured decisions, the absentee owners on Wall Street could breathe a sigh of relief.

Seems like the bill only makes it illegal for businesses to hire anyone for less than $20/hour.

Thats the bill.

All the chin wagging about the RESULTS of the bill are just BS PIE IN THE SKY.

We know the bill has resulted in layoffs.
Rules for thee, not for me.

MSN

What about those who were earning $20/hour last week.

They should get a raise this week, right?

If worker A has 1 week experience and is paid $16/hour (minimum wage) and worker B has a year experience and gets paid $20/hour…when minimum wage is raised to $20/hour…what should worker B get paid? $25/hour? 20% raise…right?
everyone above the minimum wage guys then get a raise....

In my day, as teenagers we worked fast food for gas & insurance money. Now folks think it's a career. Tell me again how we're progressing as a society?

We aint, that's just miserables, I mean liberals making shit up again.

I actually think Newson and the Democrats are doing a great job in California. I pat them on the back for passing the $20 minimum wage law, I wish more states would follow. The way to solve the problems in California is to have businesses more controlled by the government. Now your seeing a lot of layoffs, because businesses still have too much power. Now the government needs to dictate to those businesses who they are allowed to hire/ fire. If businesses want to be cheap and just fire workers out of retaliation I say that's fine, hit them where it hurts and tax the living snot out of them. Where does that tax money go? It will go to those who got laid off of course. Businesses will still have to pay those workers money regardless if they keep them hired or fire them. Raise the unemployment benefits and make it even more expensive for businesses to fire employees. Government needs to make COBRA more affordable for the recently fired employee.

The bill will lead to layoffs and it will also make everything more expensive, including fast food places, whose sales will go down due to the higher prices, leading to even more layoffs.

The main thing minimum wage laws do is propagate the notion that government should have the power to dictate wages. It's long been a bullet point of the socialist agenda.
