African slaves in America were made possible only because of the Yankee merchants. The south didn't have the ships.

The DeWolf slave trade

The DeWolf family fortune was built on the buying and selling of human beings. DeWolf slave ships brought the enslaved from the west coast of Africa to auction blocks in Charleston, South Carolina and other southern U.S. ports; to Havana, Cuba and to other ports in the Caribbean; to their own sugar plantations in Cuba; and into their own homes. James DeWolf owned a rum distillery, and he and his family started both a bank and an insurance company, all to profit even further from the slave trade. They even sent a family member to establish an auction house in Charleston, S.C., where many of their slaving voyages ended up.

In the 1790s and early 1800s, DeWolf and his brothers virtually built the economy of Bristol, Rhode Island: many of the buildings they funded still stand, and the stained glass windows at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church bear DeWolf names to this day. Across the generations, their family has included state legislators, philanthropists, writers, scholars, and Episcopal bishops and priests.

Illegal slave trading

The DeWolf family continued in the slave trade despite state and federal laws prohibiting many of their activities in the late 1700s. Their efforts to circumvent those laws eventually lead them to arrange a political favor with President Thomas Jefferson, who agreed to split the federal customs district based in Newport, R.I. This maneuver permitted the appointment of a customs inspector just for Bristol, and the choice was Charles Collins, the brother-in-law of James DeWolf, who conveniently ignored the slave ships moving in and out of harbor.

One member of the family, George DeWolf, is known to have continued in the trade after 1808, when Congress banned the importation of slaves into the U.S. He did so until 1820, when Congress made slave trading a hanging offense. James DeWolf himself was reported to have abandoned the slave trade as of January 1, 1808; there is, as yet, no evidence to demonstrate that he took part in any slaving voyages after that date, but it seems quite possible that he did.

The DeWolf family’s complicity in slavery continued after 1820 in other ways, too, as the family maintained slave plantations in Cuba and James DeWolf invested his slave trade profits in textile mills which used slave-produced cotton. Today, there are as many as half a million living descendants of the people traded as chattel by the DeWolfs.

Am I supposed to be scared? Go ahead. What's the correct quote? Tick-tock.

His qualifier was "even though". Look it up yourself. Exact quote.

lol, that's like a woman saying, my marriage was great, even though he regularly beat me.

Not at all. He was talking about family. In a certain time period.

and you agree with him that America hasn't been a great nation since 1865?

He never said that.

1. We call it 'fake news' today, but it is the boilerplate methodology of the left to lie by omission as much as by commission.
As their main goal in manipulating the electorate is to end religious faith, they take very opportunity to blame societal evils on religion, morality….and the Bible.
As is the case with so very many of the Left's memes......it just ain't so.

2. For context, every single society in history has had some sort of slavery in it's history. This is because it is among the most fundamental forms of every economic system. When the poor did not own any thing but themselves, their body was collateral, hence, what we call indentured servitude.

a. August 31, 1619 The first 20 blacks are purchased as indentured servants by Jamestown colonistsfrom a dutch man of warre”-from John Rolfe’s diary.
The first people of African heritage were brought to Virginia by the Dutch. A Dutch ship which either traded for the slaves or stole them from the Spanish entered Chesapeake Bay and sold 20 slaves in August of1619. Virginia's first white settlers did not automatically assume that the Africans were to be slaves always. They treated them as indentured servants, which would grant them personal freedom after 4 to 7 years

b. How and when this changed to perpetual slavery for blacks is unclear, but by the 1640’s, Africans brought to Virginia no longer had indenture contracts. Yet as late as 1651, some Negroes whose period of indenture expired were still being assigned land for themselves, as were the white indentured servants.

3. The Left puts the term 'slave' to their use by implying that it has just one immutable meaning, and applies it to the situation that black folks found themselves in under the tender mercies of the rules of the South, of Simon Legree….the Democrat Party.
It doesn't: 'slavery' and 'slave' has different meanings at different times and in different geographies.

The only way slavery in the United States fits into the picture above is via the African Slave Trade and/or the Atlantic Slave Trade.

Neither of these species is related to the Bible.

a. " Africans played a direct role in the slave trade, selling their captives or prisoners of war to European buyers.[19] The prisoners and captives who were sold were usually from neighbouring or enemy ethnic groups. These captive slaves were considered "other", not part of the people of the ethnic group or "tribe"; African kings held no particular loyalty to them. Sometimes criminals would be sold so that they could no longer commit crimes in that area. Most other slaves were obtained from kidnappings, or through raids that occurred at gunpoint through joint ventures with the Europeans." Atlantic slave trade - Wikipedia

Not only is the above not endorsed by the Bible…..but it is expressly forbidden.

I'll prove that in a moment.
You can't prove jack sh!t. Who do you think you are talking to? Ignorant and illiterate right wingers? You disgust me.

This sh!ts from the New Testament. And remember, when Jesus disciples speak, they are speaking for Christ.

Luke 12:47-48 NLT
The servant will be severely punished, for though he knew his duty, he refused to do it. “But people who are not aware that they are doing wrong will be punished only lightly. Much is required from those to whom much is given, and much more is required from those to whom much more is given.”
(When he's talking about servants, it was just another word for slave back then.)

Ephesians 6:5 NLT
Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ.

1 Timothy 6:1-2 NLT
Christians who are slaves should give their masters full respect so that the name of God and his teaching will not be shamed. If your master is a Christian, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. You should work all the harder because you are helping another believer by your efforts. Teach these truths, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them.

This is why all those Southern A$$wipes believe in slavery. Because it's promoted in the Bah Bull.

Watch your language.

8. The Supreme Court Dred Scott decision- due to collaboration by a Democrat Judge and a Democrat President- deemed slaves as personal possessions, and escaped slaves had to be returned to their 'rightful owners.'

Is this consistent with the Bible's authorizations?

Not in any way, shape or form.

" If a slave has taken refuge with you, do not hand them over to their master. 16 Let them live among you wherever they like and in whatever town they choose. Do not oppress them."
Deuteronomy 23:15

The Bible cannot be uses as an excuse nor endorsement for what took place in the South, and required a civil war to end.

A Civil War that absolve America of the stain of slavery.

9. "At least 620,000 combatants died during the four-year struggle; recent estimates put the total closer to 750,000, or more than 2 percent of the nation’s population at that time. More soldiers died in prison camps alone than America lost during the entire Vietnam War. Perhaps more to the point, some 350,000 Union soldiers died during the conflict, abolitionists in effect if not always in intent. Adjusted for population, that would amount to almost 5 million service deaths today, amounting to a blood sacrifice more than sufficient to redeem whatever moral or intellectual inconsistencies there are to be found in America’s founding documents.

And if that’s not sufficient? Well, then, nothing will be. But for most Americans—and for much of the rest of the world—it is more than enough. "
Blood Redemption

QED.......the Bible is in no way the explanation for the South's/Democrat's abuse of black Americans.

for entertainment-----something like the public crucifixions favored by Roman law------but REPLACED in Canon law by the

God punished the Egyptians because they wouldn't free the people of Israel from slavery
Then Moses marched the slaves through the desert to freedom

After all this.......thou shall not have slaves never made it into the Ten Commandments

Actually it did make it into ORAL LAW <<< which is a translation from Torah b'al peh ((??)) or something like
that. Torah law absolutely disallows grabbing people on the highway and enslaving them which is the Islamic mode. The
rules are actually more like the indentured stuff that England used for debt and stuff like that. From where do you imagine England got it? Chattel slavery did not exist (unless people cheated) The really barbaric form of slavery in the
west---was the Greek and Roman forms which was EMULATED by the catholic church (actually perpetuated)
Coveting made it
Slavery did not

Lots of stuff did not make to the BIG TEN------but with
some wrangling and sophistry it is described as IMPLIED.
For the sake of smokey café philosophers----enslavement is
described as THEFT AND KIDNAPPING ------so say the guys with the long beards. It gets even MORE CONVOLUTED ----slavery can be compared to MURDER which is a capital crime which is why it is a FELONY in
USA JURISPRUDENCE to the point that even "false imprisonment is a BIG TIME CRIME (our FF's ie founding fathers, were big on biblical law)

Implied?
Why would God Imply?

10. The aspects that identify what we call 'slavery' today include control of the life and death of the slave: the slave could be beaten to death with no crime having been committed by the slaves "owner."

That's not what is found in the Bible.

"… the Bible does record instances of slavery, but not in the cruel way in which we think of today. In today’s age, the idea of slavery conjures up images of a black man with whip marks on his back and bleeding blisters on his hands, working tirelessly day and night to please his ruthless white “master.” This is not the idea of slavery according to the scriptures.

When a man strikes his slave, male or female, with a rod and the slave dies under his hand, he shall be avenged. But if the slave survives a day or two, he is not to be avenged, for the slave is his money.-Exodus 21:20-21

If the slave died, the master would be put to death, but not if the slave survived (or, at least for a few days). Why? First, if the slave survived, it shows the master’s intent was not to kill or seriously harm the slave. Maybe they just got into a physical argument. Or maybe the master had to defend himself. Either way, it was a simple case of domestic violence, not pre-meditated murder. There is a big difference between those two.

This serves as a warning:

And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.-Ephesians 6:9

· The penalty for beating a slave was death if the slave died. If the slave survived, then there was no penalty, simply because the financial debts basically cancelled each other out." Bible Says It’s Okay to Beat Your Slave, As Long As They Don’t Die? Exodus 21:20-21?

wrong again CHIC------in fact-----the penalty for simply DRAWING BLOOD or knocking out a tooth or any actual
physical harm against a slave is-----get this------FREEDOM plus payment for services performed. Gee-----your sunday school teacher missed that one??? The laws of WORKMAN's COMPENSATION in the USA are kinda washed out versions of the stuff described in the Talmud (as

You appear to be trying strenguously to find a way to find that I am "wrong"....and would love to find a way to insert "again."

Sadly, you've failed in your quest, and have come across as both juvenile and pedantic.

This is what I posted.

Where is any of it 'wrong'?

Or.....is it you who deserves the appellation 'wrong'?
