Schumer Shutdown Question

If Democrats were in charge, we'd end up giving in to some of the Republicans demands.
Republicans haven't made any demands. Just that the Democrats vote like they did 13 times under Biden and re-open the gvt.

Well at least you admit that Obamacare is a smoldering pile of shit. It's a start.

Why does it need fixing? Are you saying Dimwingers created a clusterfuck?
If Republicans don't pull a rabbit out of their hats with a better plan by midnight Saturday they're going to own that clusterfuck and voters are not going to forget it.

Republicans have been trying to repeal the ACA (based upon"RomneyCare"(2006)) since it first provided healthcare coverage to millions of Americans in 2010.

One might reasonably expect them to have concocted an alternative plan by now, but their position remains, "Let's just kill it, and then we'll figure something out."

"Just trust us!" doesn't cut it.
Nice whiny little post. It has nothing to do,what I posted though, Shitlips.

Pathetic dodge. Why does Barrycare need fixing?

Ask Republicans. They said back in 2016 they were going to replace it with a "better" plan. Now push has come to shove. The old plan expires at midnight on Saturday and tens of millions of Americans are going to find themselves without access to healthcare for the first time in 15 years.
Why?
Because Republicans never really had a plan.
OUCH!
That's gonna hurt!

My brief summary of the background may upset you, and account for your churlishness.

The government shutdown remains at a standstill, with the issue at the center being that Democrats demand that Republicans pass extensions for subsidies of the Affordable Care Act.

It makes no sense, I thought it was called the AFFORDABLE Care Act. If it is so affordable, why are subsidies needed? :dunno:

The dems have some explainin' to do.
Why is it framed as a Republican decision as opposed to the democrat demand, while throwing a tantrum in the minority? **** them .. democrats continue to deny voting for necessities that take care of soldiers and SNAP benefits. Their priorities are centered on fringe issues that focus on illegal aliens / non-Americans

Red states, particularly those won by Trump in the 2024 election, have seen significant reliance on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) for health insurance coverage, with many residents benefiting from enhanced subsidies. In states such as Florida, West Virginia, and Alabama, around 98% of ACA enrollees receive federal premium tax credits, highlighting the critical role of these subsidies in making health care affordable for low- and middle-income residents.

Actually, Democrats are focused upon allowing Americans to keep their healthcare coverage, most conspicuously poorer folks in red states. Republicans have long been determined to replace the ACA, but are still unable to concoct a viable alternative.

[T]he average Obamacare enrollees will see an average 30% increase in states (30) where the federal government manages marketplaces. For states that manage their own markets, enrollees will see an increase of 17%.
... Those tax credits and cuts to Medicaid and Medicare are at the center of the current government shutdown. Given the high cost of living, Democrats are demanding that the Trump administration and Republican-controlled Congress restore the cuts to health care ...
So far, the White House and Republicans have refused to make a deal with Democrats, as the shutdown has lasted for 28 days.
If tax credits are not extended by the end of the year, ... enrollees’ monthly premium payments will more than double, increasing by about 114% on average.,,
[D]espite attempts to repeal it, Republicans have failed to put forth a viable alternative. Experts point out that while Obamacare isn’t perfect, it has made health insurance more accessible for millions of Americans.

Glad to see you admit Barrycare is a disaster of epic proportions.

The Republicans are under no obligation to fix the clusteruck Dimwinger forced on America, especially in a CR.

A CR is simply an appropriation of funds for programs that have already been negotiated, voted on, passed, and signed into law.

This is not a place to try to start new spending or programs. In fact, new spending is PROHIBITED in a CR.

Summary

The program activities of most federal agencies are generally funded on an annual basis through the enactment of regular appropriations acts. When those annual appropriations acts are not enacted by the beginning of the fiscal year (October 1), one or more continuing appropriations acts (commonly known as continuing resolutions or CRs) may be enacted to provide temporary funding to continue certain programs and activities until action on the regular appropriations acts is completed.

There are six main features of CRs.

First, CRs have provided funding for certain activities (coverage), which are typically specified with reference to the prior fiscal year's appropriations acts.

Second, CRs provide budget authority for a specified duration of time. This duration may be as short as a single day or as long as the remainder of the fiscal year.

Third, in recent practice, CRs have typically provided funds based on an overall funding rate rather than in specified amounts.

Fourth, the use of budget authority provided in the CR has been prohibited for new activities not funded in the previous fiscal year.

Fifth, the duration and amount of funds in the CR, and purposes for which they may be used for specified activities, may be adjusted through anomalies.

Sixth, legislative provisions—which create, amend, or extend other laws—have been included in some instances.

Once again the dimwitted Nostra inadvertently proves MY point instead of his own.

Perfect. All Republicans need to do is own it next November.
Beginning after the new year Republicans running for reelection should all adopt the same campaign slogan...

VOTE FOR THE PARTY THAT NOT ONLY TOOK AWAY YOUR HEALTH CARE BUT ALSO MADE YOU GO HUNGRY LAST THANKSGIVING.

Yeah, that's a real winner. :auiqs.jpg:

your delusions are cute.

This is a Schumer Shutdown, Simp.

No amount of lies by you will change that fact.

Apparently, it's easier to negotiate with Hamas than with democrats.
Yea because Hamas had no power at all. Perhaps you should start bombing Democrats and turn them into Hamas? Call them ANTIFA instead of Democrats. Hasn't Trump floated that idea already? Yes he has.

Apparently it's easier to negotiate with Israel and Iran, Pakistan and India, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Thailand and Cambodia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Egypt and Ethiopia, and Serbia and Kosovo than it is to negotiate with Russia.

Those are the 7 wars he says he ended. Those and Israel v Hamas. So 8 wars. These were easy.

Now do Russia Ukraine Donald!

And yes, show Democrats you are a master at making deals.

What has he offered Democrats so far btw? What has he offered us that we said no to?
