The government shutdown remains at a standstill, with the issue at the center being that Democrats demand that Republicans pass extensions for subsidies of the Affordable Care Act.

It makes no sense, I thought it was called the AFFORDABLE Care Act. If it is so affordable, why are subsidies needed? :dunno:

The dems have some explainin' to do.

It goes beyond that of just obamacare. it gets into dismantling the BBB.
Also, the center of this is Schumer trying to save his job. There is the meat of it.

This has all been debated. Now is not the time to debate or re negotiate. Give us what we want and we will negotiate after. Isn't that what you told us? So **** off.

Well the way it looks his approval rating has gone up while Chucks has gone down since Oct 1 when it started.....There a thread today about it....Read it and weep your vile dem tears.

We should ask someone who's actually involved in the process. You can't ask 99% of Republicans. They're afraid of Trump and MAGA constituents. You can't ask Dems because Cons won't believe them. So let's ask MTG.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) ramped up her criticism of House Republican leadership, saying the GOP will lose the House if the cost of living does not decrease.

“I can’t see into the future, but I see Republicans losing the House if Americans are continuing to go paycheck-to-paycheck,”

household debt, mortgage balances and credit card balances rose by $185 billion, $131 billion and $27 billion, respectively, in the second quarter of 2025.

During the first week of the shutdown, Greene also said on X that she was “absolutely disgusted” that health insurance premiums are projected to more than double for millions of people if Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits expire. The Georgia lawmaker, while noting she’s “not a fan” of the 2010 law, slammed Republicans for not having a concrete plan on the impending increase in premiums.

Trump has been promising to show us his plan in 2 weeks but he's been saying that for 10 years!

Nothing has expired. It is a clean CR to facilitate more negotiations. Schumer and Jeffries are butt hurt that they didn't get the press time they wanted. LOL, now they have it and it isn't looking good for them.

I don't need to ask any politician. Just look where the 1.5T that Schumer is requesting
is going.

You guys are so good at giving things catchy names. The Schumer Shutdown. I love it. Hey, **** it. Nothing Republicans can do about it. This is what Democracy looks like. You've already fired every liberal government worker we cared about. The rest are vital and necessary. If not, fire them. Just don't call them back.

So far not one airplane crash. I guess we don't really need air traffic controllers.

Deflection noted.....Damn, you vile dems sure are predictable. :laughing0301:

What I don't get is where the 'out' is for the democrats? They are literally damaging their own country holding the nation hostage hurting its own people (who vote for them) in order to provide a benefit which non-citizens are not even entitled to which they must break our laws in the first place to apply for!

Please link to just ONE ACA cut that happens between now and Nov. 21. Hmm. NONE! Democrats are throwing a temper tantrum because Schumer and Jeffries weren't given a soap box. Try again.
