Republican insider cheating to win Georgia governor

Brian Kemp, the Republican candidate for governor, is in charge of elections and voter registration in Georgia.

ATLANTA (AP) — Marsha Appling-Nunez was showing the college students she teaches how to check online if they’re registered to vote when she made a troubling discovery. Despite being an active Georgia voter who had cast ballots in recent elections, she was no longer registered.

“I was kind of shocked,” said Appling-Nunez, who moved from one Atlanta suburb to another in May and believed she had successfully changed her address on the voter rolls.

“I’ve always voted. I try to not miss any elections, including local ones,” Appling-Nunez said.

She tried re-registering, but with about one month left before a November election that will decide a governor’s race and some competitive U.S. House races, Appling-Nunez’s application is one of over 53,000 sitting on hold with Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp’s office. And unlike Appling-Nunez, many people on that list — which is predominantly black, according to an analysis by The Associated Press — may not even know their voter registration has been held up.

Tuesday is Georgia’s deadline to register and be eligible to vote in the November General Election.

Kemp denies it vehemently.

But through a process that Kemp calls voter roll maintenance and his opponents call voter roll purges, Kemp’s office has cancelled over 1.4 million voter registrations since 2012. Nearly 670,000 registrations were cancelled in 2017 alone.

Kemp, who’s also the Republican candidate for governor, is in charge of elections and voter registration in Georgia.

His Democratic opponent, former state Rep. Stacey Abrams, and voting rights advocacy groups charge that Kemp is systematically using his office to suppress votes and tilt the election, and that his policies disproportionately affect black and minority voters.

Kemp has been a busy boy - purging voters. Why is it that Republicans are the ones always engaged in some kind of voter suppression? I never hear of Democrats doing it. Why is that?
Did you miss the DNC and MSM colluding to cheat Bernie out of the nomination?
Bernie is not a Democrat and wasn’t during the election.

Maybe this time he’ll run as a Republican?

Then Republicans can scream that it’s not fair that Bernie can’t run! He’s being cheated!
Irrelevant. Your girl and your party purposely screwed Bernie and all his voters, for which they have yet to pay a price.

Because it's hard to hear when you head is stuck up your ass.

If he's done something illegal, please post it.

Otherwise STFU.

There is something called ethics. That is something that is unknown to Republicans in the Trump era as the only thing that matters is winning. It doesn't matter how you do it. Kemp should have stepped down as there is a huge conflict of interest here and people are quite right in questioning it.

Telling Shitting Bull to not be stupid is like telling the sun not to rise.

Why are they being purged?

Oh....nevermind. He's following Georgia law

According to records obtained from Kemp’s office through a public records request, Appling-Nunez’s application —like many of the 53,000 registrations on hold with Kemp’s office — was flagged because it ran afoul of the state’s “exact match” verification process.

Under the policy, information on voter applications must precisely match information on file with the Georgia Department of Driver Services or the Social Security Administration. Election officials can place non-matching applications on hol
d.

He should notify them of that fact or give them a call. Kemp is a corrupt Republican who apparently cannot win honestly.

What Brian Kemp is doing is not gerrymandering - it's voter purging. Can't you follow the thread topic?

You asked me a simple question how Atlanta hasn't had a republican mayor in over 130 years and I gave you the answer .

No, dumbass, I did NOT ask you that question.

Say what? You asked me in post#11 how come Republicans have not been mayor of Atlanta since 1879..

I said democrat gerrymandering..

You said "oh yeah, you are right, bear"

.

Anyone who lives in the Atlanta city limits can vote. You cannot gerrymander the mayor's office.

Did they all purge/suppress votes to win?

100 years of gerrymandering like chicago..

.
Gerrymandering does not effect a mayoral race. You either live in the city or you do not.

LMFAO... you're a lying fool

You are talking about city council not the mayor's office.

It's a citizens responsibility to make sure their registration is in order.

Of course you're a left loon and struggle with responsibility

Did you miss the DNC and MSM colluding to cheat Bernie out of the nomination?
Bernie is not a Democrat and wasn’t during the election.

Maybe this time he’ll run as a Republican?

Then Republicans can scream that it’s not fair that Bernie can’t run! He’s being cheated!
Irrelevant. Your girl and your party purposely screwed Bernie and all his voters, for which they have yet to pay a price.

Clinton got 54% of the primary vote. Why should she not have gotten the nomination.

Shut up you right wing loon. You think anyone who disagrees with Republican corruption is a leftist.

Because she didn't play fair. She made sure the super delegates were in her pocket. The MSM media did all they could to make she look credible (yeah I know, a feat not possible), while criticizing Bernie. MSM giving Cankles the questions prior to debates...there is probably much more we don't know.

Left claims Trump colluded with Russia without a shred of evidence (evidence is not longer required), yet Hillary colluded all round to cheat Bernie from the nomination and the evidence it overwhelming.

The DNC knew that America wasn't ready for Bernie's socialist utopia and would not vote him into the White House. Hillary was the only logical choice. Like the RNC, the DNC is a "private" organization that operates in its best interests. Their goal is to WIN.

Georgia Knew Its Voter Roll Practice Was Discriminatory. It Stuck With It Anyway.

An analysis found that 70 percent of people whose voter registration is in jeopardy are black residents.

A Georgia process for verifying voters’ information has left the applications of over 53,000 people in jeopardy, and 70 percent of those applications are from black people, an Associated Press analysis published Tuesday found.

GEORGIA GRIME: BLACK VOTERS LOCKED OUT

This is far beyond just dirty politics.

It is said that GA has a 32% black population, and that the applications being held back are 70% black applicants.

I think he is actually circumventing GA law. It isn't like he didn't know there would be another election in GA, so his timing is suspect. This could have been done any time since the last election, giving the voters a chance to correct any suspected problems. When would the voters find out they'd been purged...at the polls? I'd trust this guy as far as I can kick an anvil, and scream to high heaven for an investigation. This doesn't pass the smell test.

By the same token, I don't know why Sec. of States don't require Counties to match voting records and registrations with death certificates as far as that is possible. Would that be such a hard job? But do it timely.
