That would be as if a couple of dozen or so blacks murdered a specific person two thousand years ago - and then books were written saying “the blood of Name is on blacks’ hands and their descendants!”, and for thousands of years after that singular incident, black children were subjected to “Name killers!!!” and millions of blacks for centuries were expelled, persecuted, and murdered as a result of the horrific bigotry put forth following that ancient incident.

what "religious" leaders?The whole population of Palestine never exceeded 700,000, but otherwise I agree with you. The religious leaders in Judah were a flinty bunch who didn't like the Galileans to begin with. Israel was much more prosperous and cosmopolitan than Jerusalem.
