The biggest problems with government workers pay is the COLA increase, health benefits & defined benefit retirement accounts.

In the real world the cost of living has nothing to do with pay. When cost go up, profit & pay go down. Raises are based on production & merit, not just passing time. When health insurance climbs, your pay check gets smaller & you lose benefits. When the company or market tanks, so does your retirement.

The main reason the military gets those things (COLA, health benefits and retirement) is because they don't get paid that much when compared to their counterparts in the civilian community.

My company estimates another $1-$2 an hour more for each employee, about 100 employees. Say an added $1 per for everyone, an added $800 per day, $4000 a week $204,000 a year. Say the average worker gets $50,000 per year, that is four jobs, either not hired or cut, to save. That or raise prices in a competitive market where the average profit margin is 7%.

I'm not for moving companies overseas, but I'm worried we will take a hit in 2014 and the economy will be crippled worse than now.

We didn't want one auto company to fail, because of the effect it would have on the economy. Now, what would of the effect been by collapsing an entire industry? So, profits aside, it would have taken a fragile economy and tanked it. So, adding to unemployment, would that have been for the good of the average American? Say what you want, you can blame who or what you want, but if you don't think things through, you can really **** it up.
