Right now, my property taxes are more than the total of my P&I. Which means that when I pay off my mortgage, I will still be left with the majority of the monthly payment.

Yes this was the Luxury tax on Cars and Boats costing 30,000 or more and the boat industry went into a depression as workers lost their jobs. They ended up with less tax revenues.
