Obama going pro pot?

ok, the snooty drug expert here

If I say something stupid, I can blame it on weed. What's the GOP's excuse? Benghazi?

Do you want to read any of the links that have been provided? Or perhaps do some research on your own? Type "OPERATION GREEN SWEEP" into any search engine and read about it. Do you agree with George HW Bush, a small-government, fiscally-conservative Republican President who ordered hundreds of big government US Army soldiers to raid an American town with Blackhawk attack helicopters because of the same plant that saved George HW Bush's life in 1944 when he used a hemp parachute over the Pacific?

If you support America's "war on drugs", then you support big government. Because there is no bigger government than sending US Army soldiers to "war" against Americans for growing a plant that can be used to make life-saving equipment for those very same soldiers.

Doesn't matter if the law is stupid. You wont have to look over your shoulders in concern for the police if you have the integrity to follow the law.

If you don't like the law. Get enough people to change it. Or face the consequences for breaking with it. Stop being a freakin coward.
Voting? Yeah, good idea. It's done really well for us so far, hasn't it? Facts and science have been presented to the US Federal government time and time again, from as far back as the 1944 LaGuardia report which strikes down the "gateway" theory and the notion that marijuana causes other crimes. None of that matters because the DEA will just stick to Nancy Reagan's mantra of "Just Say No". It doesn't matter that facts, history and science all point to legalization as long as the US Federal government can "just say no". I could put a link to Hemp For Victory in every post on this board until every American voter learns the truth but exactly what they are looking at is still not going to register with most people.

THE LEGALIZATION OF MARIJUANA IN 1942 IS THE REASON THAT WE HAVE A VOTE TODAY IN THE FIRST PLACE. That fact still doesn't register past all of the Reefer Madness bullshit, does it? Reefer Madness was made in 1937, Hemp For Victory was made in 1942. Get it? If you don't think we owe our democracy and way of life to "Marihuana", go through the hypothetical versions of history that would have taken place up to today if D-Day had never occurred.

It isn't your right to put people in cages for growing the same plant that saved your rights in the first place.

Multiple states have legalized it so far. Seems to be working quite fine.

And no. We don't. Stop smoking the weed and do something useful in your pathetic life.

I agree, if he said that. However, one high usually leads to a stronger high, then on, and on, and on. So both are equally bad in that aspect.

Let's see how dangerous "pot" is when these slackers have been toking up everyday - 7 days a week - for the next 20 years.

Bet you a wooden nickel that, just like cigarettes, we find out that there is just as much as a correlation between pot and lung cancer as there is between cigarettes and lung cancer.

Want to take that bet?

So then, who do we blame? The states that "legalized" it? The growers that were allowed to market it? Total BS.

some people have been doing that for 20 years .....and it did not take them long to find out about what effects cigarets have...they have been studying Pot since the 70's.....and cant say the same....

The war on drugs doesn't end with the legalization of pot.

It will be the beginning of the end of a horribly draconian policy that has cost us dearly.

Yeah Heaven forbid you can't alter your state of mind to avoid your problems and create more instead of addressing and fixing them.

Waged the biggest war against medical marijuana of any president, which was the opposite of what he had promised

In May 2008, Obama campaign spokesperson Ben LaBolt said that Obama would end DEA raids on medical marijuana in states where it’s legal. Also in 2008, Obama said that he supported the “basic concept of using medical marijuana for the same purposes and with the same controls as other drugs” and that he was “not going to be using Justice Department resources to try to circumvent state laws.”

However, in February 2010, DEA agents raided a medical marijuana grower in Highlands Ranch in Colorado, a state where medical marijuana is legal. Also in February 2010, DEA agents raided a medical marijuana dispensary in Culver City in California, a state where medical marijuana is legal. In July 2010, the DEA raided at least four medical marijuana growers in San Diego, California. Also in July 2010, the DEA raided a medical marijuana facility in Covelo, California. Then in September 2010, the DEA conducted raids on at least five medical marijuana dispensaries in Las Vegas, Nevada, where medical marijuana is legal. In 2011, the DEA conducted raids on medical marijuana in Seattle, Washington, West Hollywood, California, and Helena, Montana, all places where it is legal. In April 2012, the DEA carried out several raids on medical marijuana in Oakland, California.

In February 2012, Rolling Stone magazine wrote that Obama’s war against medical marijuana went “far beyond anything undertaken by George W. Bush.” In April 2012, Mother Jones magazine wrote: “The president campaigned on the promise that he’d stop federal raids on medical marijuana operations that were in compliance with state laws, a vow that Attorney General Eric Holder repeated after the election. But then the Obama administration raided more than 100 dispensaries in its first three years and is now poised to outpace the Bush administration’s crackdown record.” In May 2012, the Washington Post wrote: “Obama has become more hostile to medical marijuana patients than any president in U.S. history.” In May 2012, U.S. Congressperson Nancy Pelosi (D-California) said she had “strong concerns” about Obama’s forced closure of five medical marijuana facilities in Pelosi’s congressional district. In April 2012, commenting on Obama’s crackdown on medical marijuana, U.S. Congressman Barney Frank (D-Massachusetts) said, “I’m very disappointed… They look more like the Bush administration than the Clinton administration.”

In July 2012, federal prosecutors filed civil forfeiture actions against Harborside Health Center, a medical marijuana dispensary in Oakland, CA, which claims to be the world’s largest, and which claims to serve more than 100,000 medical marijuana patients. In April 2012, federal agents raided Oaksterdam University, an educational institution in Oakland, CA, which teaches people about medical marijuana. In April 2012, federal agents raided a medical marijuana facility which had been serving 1,500 patients near Lake Elsinore, CA. In June 2012, the Obama administration filed asset-forfeiture lawsuits against two landlords who rented their buildings to medical marijuana stores in Santa Fe Springs, CA. The Obama administration also sent warning letters which threatened similar legal action to dozens of other, nearby landlords. During the first seven months of 2012, the DEA shut down40 medical marijuana dispensaries in Colorado, all of which had been operating in compliance with state and local law.

In July 2013, the DEA conducted multiple medical marijuana raids in Washington state, including the cities of Olympia, Tacoma, and Seattle.

In May 2012, ABC News reported that during Obama’s youth, he often smoked large quantities of recreational marijuana. Obama’s marijuana smoking wasn’t even medical – it was recreational. And yet now, he is taking large scale, widespread action to prevent people with AIDS, cancer, multiple sclerosis, glaucoma, and other illnesses, who have prescriptions from their doctors, from using their prescription medicine – how cold hearted can a person be?

So he's a flip flopping liar?

Denver, Colorado. Some stoner piece of human excrement hits 2 cop cars while high. Yeah - benign.

Longmont, Colorado. a 7 year old child is rushed to the hospital after injesting a pot brownie. Nearly dies. Yeah - benign.

This is after legalization goes into effect Jan 1. And that's only the beginning. Benign.
You've cited exceptional occurrences. There is no sport in which people are never injured or killed. People are killed or injured, or they kill or injure others, by driving carelessly. But these are exceptional occurrence, too. Should we ban all sports, or all automobile usage which is not certified as essential, so we can eliminate these exceptions?

I'll state this again - one more time. Let's see the outcome 20 years from now. I say you're full of crap.

Pot Smoking Not Linked to Lung Cancer

May 23, 2006 -- People who smoke marijuana do not appear to be at increased risk for developing lung cancer, new research suggests.

While a clear increase in cancer risk was seen among cigarette smokers in the study, no such association was seen for regular cannabis users.

Even very heavy, long-term marijuana users who had smoked more than 22,000 joints over a lifetime seemed to have no greater risk than infrequent marijuana users or nonusers.

The findings surprised the studyÂ’s researchers, who expected to see an increase in cancer among people who smoked marijuana regularly in their youth.

Of course Obama is a liar and flip flops like a fish out water

he pipes up with his brilliance on everything, like we care his opinion on pot

or football, a football teams name, if he had a son, a goat, a skunk, etc etc

what do you think will happen if weed is legalized? It's common sense there will be more users, and since is well documented that weed is in fact a gateway drug, we'll have more people using harder drugs.

i knew dozens of people over the years who would not smoke any weed even though it was being passed around right in front of them.....are you saying they would start if it was now legal?..

Of course not everyone's going to use it, but there will be a greater amount of people using it if it's legal.

As a general rule anything that gets you high is not good for you. How bad for you is pot? Hasn't been determine yet. There are many in the medical community that believe it can lead to psychotic episodes in mentally ill people, there even a study that links pot to schizophrenia. A pothead will of course argue that pot is greatest thing in the world because he/she is really trying convince themselves that they can smoke without any consequence to their mind and body.

Pot is just like everything else.....you are going to have your abusers and those who dont....look at how many people abuse Cell Phones.....

Every word these people speak has an objective. My guess is that this will soon be added to the DNC platform.

Now the platform will look like this.

1. Abortion
2. Gay sex
3. Limitless spending
4. Pot
5. Free everything

Sounds like a real "party" to me!!

i have news for you Votto.....lots of Conservatives smoke Pot.....and want to see it either decriminalized or made legal.....

Obama going pro pot?
What would the cons be like, had FDR not legalized booze? Bath tub Gin? Moonshine stills? Maybe they would have all moved to Germany.

I don't have anything against that..it was decriminalized in Alaska for a long time
It's just people like Obama coming out in favor of this and then turn around and tax people who smoke cigarettes because it kills according to his appointed comrades in his administration.... not only them but everyone around them

I can't stand hypocrites

Since you don't know anything about Cannabis and are unwilling to learn even the most elementary information, I shouldn't bother explaining that my marijuana use is what allows me to be a healthy normal member of society. Without marijuana, I go into violent seizures. This happens in public, in private, in the day, at night, while I'm asleep or awake, whenever. Marijuana has been my only defense against it in the past 8 years. I tried a few different pills from the VA and still had seizures. The only time that the seizures stopped was when I had some weed. Now I need it every day or I will collapse and possibly die. Who are you to tell me that it isn't medicine? Who is the DEA to invade my home and throw me in a cage for growing my own medicine?

With this information that there is a free American who needs marijuana to remain healthy, with all the respect that I can afford to give to people like you, will each and every one of you Conservatives please, please, PLEASE **** off and shove your Reefer Madness bullshit back up your asses where it came from?

Let me put this in terms that Republicans can understand:

You can have my weed when you pry it from my cold, dead hands....... or you can just grow your own.

the bigger Hypocrites Steph are those in Congress.....i am willing to bet a good deal of them either smoked it often or at least tried it and were around it enough to at least know, it should not be a Schedule 1 Drug.... but yet seem to be afraid to admit it....and i bet if Pot talk about decriminalizing gets pretty popular with the people more of them will come out of the woodwork and start saying what they really think....

No I didn't. I don't drive while impaired or intoxicated. Cell phones and texting are a much greater risk.

Do you know how many times I hear that same line of b******* except where I work I see all you start coming to the store to buy your munchies. The only folks I see lying about the dangers of Cannabis are the Big Government supporters, like you. Cell phones and distracted drivers pose a much greater threat than munchies seeking stoners.
