Yeah, it is really unbelievable how Germany and India and Egypt and Mexico and a ton of other countries get their coffee without that huge fleet and meddling into other countries.

Our ships protect their sea lanes all over the world. No one has a Navy like ours, not the Russians nor the Chinese. Remember when the Somali pirates hijacked the Maersk Alabama (of Captain Phillip's fame). Maersk is a Dutch shipping company. They just happened to have an American captain. We patrol the world.

No one benefits from the USA's largess except of American financial syndicate. Worldwide racketeering is their main export and the biggest source of revenue.

I think you are suffering from envy of our military prowess. Lord knows, the UK can hardly man what few ships they have left.

They should do nothing about that. Venezuela is virtually excluded from international trade because of American economic sanctions. These stupid sanctions should be lifted as soon as possible, and Venezuela, alongside with Cuba, should become part of international community.

Their gunboats could easily attack other countries shipping just like Yemen's Houthis are disrupting trade from the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf. Wake up and smell that coffee!

Actually, as is common in such cases the ship was actually flagged as an American ship. Which is precisely why they had an American Captain.

And Kuwait did the exact same thing in the "Tanker War", reflagging most of their oil fleet as American ships, which entitled them to direct protection of the US Navy.

There are not a lot of "American Flagged" ships in the modern era, companies are much more likely to flag in nations like Panama or the Bahamas because it is significantly cheaper. But in areas where you often have pirates and other dangers related to conflict, many will go ahead and pay the much higher amounts to flag as American ships because in doing so they get direct protection from the US Navy.

Korea. The primary reason the Korean War was fought was after WW2 ended the US and Russia split the country.

I think you’re wrong about that. If you polled Iraqis prior to the Iraq war and gave them the choices of keeping the status quo with Saddam or all that happened with the Iraq war including some estimates of over a million deaths due to the war I’m not sure a majority are signing up for that.

And a hell of a lot of those were actually UN Interventions and not US Interventions.

Case in point, the UN Multinational Force in Lebanon from 1982-1984. Commanded by a Spanish General, most of the forces involved were French, Italian, UK, and US.
