So, it looks like Affirmative Action is dead. 68% of Americans support the Supreme Court decision to ban Affirmative Action including 52% of Black Americans. Can the farce of using race or DEI finally end?

Discuss. :D

Some intrepid college President will have to ban any mention of race or ethnicity on applications and essays.

I don't expect it to happen, but it would be a nice first step.

.. and the Asians, who recently sued Harvard for this very thing.

It impresses me that so many people are invested in universities that they will never be admitted to and most of them could never afford.

At the end of the day, the Universities will just find other ways to admit black students. They'll scrap the SATs and ACTs. They'll get rid of legacies and Dean's interest. They put more emphasis on "Life Story" and "Economic Circumstance".

DEI will mercifully die out because colleges can't afford the $300K salaries for DEI "specialists" wasting everyone's time on racial sensitivity training.

What? 300K a year to drivel DEI nonsense? Wait a minute....sign me up! I love Colored People! :afro:

Post-Affirmative Action, Views on Admissions Differ by Race

This is what Gallup really said.

Which is exactly what the article in the OP stated. 68% of Americans support the Supreme Court ban on race based College Admissions including a majority of blacks.

Why anyone would use skin color or ethnicity to make hiring or admission decisions in 2024 is insane and deeply racist. It should have ended long ago.

Blacks have never been for race based stuff. Whites have and they did it by written law for almost 200 years as a nation.. Seems that some whites have forgotten this. And that's the problem with all this white whining about AA or DEI. Stop pretending the shit is all in the past because it's not and you damn well know it. It's why right wing whites have packed the courts with raciist judges hoping to get enough of them on the SCOTUS to end equal opportunity.

But evil always loses and whites are going to become a minority. And then you'll wish AA existed.

Universities that ignore the clearly expressed opinion of the Supreme Court and the public, and which admit blacks that by objective criteria are less qualified than the whites and Orientals they reject will face and lose expensive law suits.

If whites and Orientals are ever out numbered by blacks and Hispanics it will become obvious that the blacks and Hispanics are unable to maintain the level of technology achieved by whites, especially Jews, and Orientals, unless whites and Orientals continue to dominate the economy.

The Supreme Court still needs to rule against affirmative action in hiring decisions. I am looking forward to that rule.

IM2, you might as well forget about reparations.

Um, yeah, do you know how hard it is to bring that kind of lawsuit, especially if the other criteria are so objective.

You MIGHT have an argument if 42% of Harvard Admissions weren't ALDC (Athletics, Legacies, Dean's Interest, and Children of Staff). So once you've made "life story" and "economic circumstances" criteria they will use, and get rid of racist SAT tests, they will skip right over those Asian kids who though they were getting over. I guess the Tiger Mom not giving you dinner for getting a B won't be worth it.

Dream on, buddy. The one thing that I've learned from the Trump years is stupid people are very powerful in large numbers. America is not a meritocracy.

It wouldn't matter, companies will keep hiring minorities simply because they know a diverse workforce is the right thing to do.

The worst companies I've worked for are ones where all the employees were white. Usually, I find the more diverse a workplace, the better a place it is to work.

They are probably pretty much inevitable.

How is that the right thing to do? Affirmative action in practice means lowering standards for blacks. A company that wants more diversity needs to hire more Jews and Orientals. They perform well. I have worked with Negroes who owed their positions to affirmative action. Their incompetence was obvious to everyone. Their presence lowered morale. We did not like doing their jobs for them.
