Never, in my wildest dreams, could I ever imagine myself seeing a hardcore movie featuring disabled athletes.
Murderball is as real as it gets.
Hard hitting violence, tough talk and an intense atmosphere, makes for a great action movie; but when it is a documentary, in a real life sport, featuring real disabled athletes, it makes for something more.
Mark Zupan is the centerpiece of this documentary. A potential world class soccer player, cut down after an accident, he'd chosen to turn to the life of playing paralympic rugby. He goes on to become the most feared player in the game.
But Murderball doesn't stop there. It goes into other issues such as medical problems, personal demons and of course the obvious issue, sexual relations.
This documentary kicks ass. It will change your opinion of disabled athletes forever, why? Because for the first time, you will be introduced to men, who are in wheelchairs, that you can honestly look at and say, "I don't want to run into them in a dark alley".
