The New York Times shockingly admitted in an explosive front page report that thousands of WMDs were found in Iraq since the start of the war:

From 2004 to 2011, American and American-trained Iraqi troops repeatedly encountered, and on at least six occasions were wounded by, chemical weapons remaining from years earlier in Saddam Hussein’s rule.

In all, American troops secretly reported finding roughly 5,000 chemical warheads, shells or aviation bombs, according to interviews with dozens of participants, Iraqi and American officials, and heavily redacted intelligence documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act

We already knew he had chemical weapons when he used them openly against the Kurds. What got the bombs falling was the fully formed bio weapon and nuke programs that did not exist. If that alone was full justification for the Iraq war then we would be balls deep in Syria right now with a full scale invasion. Assad has them and has used them, he claims to have gotten rid of them but how about we send 10 thousand soldiers over there to make sure? See? Without the threat of weapons capable of actual mass destruction in allied nations it seems sort of not worth it.

At the end of the day, we PROBABLY didn't invade Iraq because of "WMD". Iraq was a scapegoat for 9-11, and symbol for don't fuck with the USA. More than that, it was probably an attempt to stabilize the region. That was accomplished to some extent, but Obama gave it away. And of course we know Saddam Hussein was a scumbag regardless, and had no issues using WMD.
