What would it be like if liberals ruled the world?

I think you'd be coverred in padding to protect yourself from harm of any and every kind.

You'd stay in doors in order to avoid obstacles and reduce the odds of injury or worse.

Your Gov't health care would restrict you from any outdoor activity because that would be risy and we all know 99.99% of all accidents happen to people when they are involved in behavior.

You could order from the gov't approved menu and have it deliverred by an undocumented worker who is only here to get a better life.

You could exersize but that would cause your heart to beat faster.

You could have sex only after wearing the propper safety equipment is applied to the sexually useful parts.

You'd save all the animals buy only eating grasses and soy products deliverred by an undocumented union worker.

eventually this would erode into the destruction of the human race by sloth enduced starvation..

I used to think that America was about as close to utopia as mankind could devise. I think we're losing our place in the running for that noble title.

I'm too old to seek citizenship there. I don't feel that old, but I sort of understand Canada's position, too.

Why Canada?

More elbow room, mostly. Perhaps more opportunity than I expect America is going to be able to provide for it citizens, too.

Plus, they speak English, their laws seem sensible to me, and I'll be needing health care eventually, too. I don't expect that america's health care crises is going to be solved in my lifetime.

Plus I like the fact that they don't typically go to war on their people to solve their social problems, and they don't have troops in hundreds of other lands, either. This seems sensible to someone like me who basically thinks our nation would be better off being slightly more isolationist (and classically conservative) than it currently is.

I sort of liked Netherlands, too, but there's so many Islamics there, now, so I think that society is in for some hard times, fairly soon.

I am encouraging my son to move to Canada and seek citizenship there, though. He needs to develop some useful skills first, though. He's young...he has time.

I think right now American society is slightly nuts to be honest, Guns, and as far as I can tell it's getting more toxic all the time.

The crux of the thread is entirely accurate. the left in this country seem to want to legislate adversity and risk out of people's lives when in the long run, doing so will only make a society weaker.

The notion that we wouldn't have defecit if the left were in power is ridiculous. Yes Bush spends money like a drunken sailor, but the only real difference would be in what the money would have spent on. He spent it on a war. The left would raise taxes and still not come close to being able fund them. Tell me, what type of impact on the defecit do you suppose universal health care would have?

There is an element of truth to that sentiment...one that thinking liberals quite agree with, you know.

Sadly, far too many radical libertopians fail to understand that taken to the extremes they seem to advocate, there is an element of truth to my over the top posting in this thread, too.

The devil is in the details, but don't for a moment imagine that many of us who are (by the definitions of radical libertopians, socialists) don't understand that welfare can be a disaster no less than moving too far in the other direction.

Finding the balance between individual liberty, and the rights of society to mitigate those freedoms is what thinking convatives and thinking liberals have been all about all along.

Sadly thinking liberal and thinking conservatives are painted with the same broad brushes as being either fascists or communists by unthinking radicals on both sides of this debate.
