It is not the main point. If someone has to 'earn' something, but another one gets this just for being born in some group, that is called tribalism.

Ask how many Gentile Rabbis there are. The answer is very very few, if any. I know of two, and neither of them are welcome at Orthodox or ultra-Orthodox congregations. Most 'converts' are not especially welcome. The Jerusalem Temple only allowed them in the outer Court during services, along with the 'tainted' Jews.

Where there is no a state religion, the national idea isn't based on some ethnic basis, freedom to practice your faith and keep ethnic traditions. You are a little confused. The person who orchestrated the compilation of the "NEW TESTAMENT" was Constantine. He also developed CANON LAW---ie the law of the catholic church based on that which
he determined to be CHRIST'S LAW----his descendant----I think, JUSTIN, codified his laws into JUSTINIAN LAW ---which is nothing more or less than the LAW of the Catholic Church which also ESTABLISHES THE INQUISITION

The actual issue is that NT Scripture says that behavior was a abomination.
The real issue was who adopted the NT as it's guardian...a vicious entity call The Roman Empire.

Whether or not that was true is another issue.
There was no protest against actually slaughter animals for their next meal.
