In politics, people tend to believe lies. Why?

In politics, people tend to believe lies. Why?

First, pain. The truth is too painful to face head-on, so we refuse to acknowledge that what weā€™ve chosen to accept as truth is, in reality, a lie.

Second, loss. To face the truth robs one of something held dear ā€“ often power or control. Rather than find our place in a new context, we grasp for anything, and anyone, who will affirm, and help us retain, our current status.

Third, ignorance. Though less common, some people truly donā€™t recognize a lie when it is presented. Lack of knowledge, feigned or actual, provides them a state of bliss.

Fourth, cultural assimilation. A desire to fit in with oneā€™s group, tribe, family or social structure causes you to believe what theyā€™re saying even when you know better.

Fifth, moral weakness. This is perhaps the most common reason. When someone doesnā€™t have the fortitude to do their own research they ā€œleave the details to others,ā€ or they know the truth but are unwilling to speak out.

Sixth, secondary gain. Believing and propagating the lie brings a personal benefit, so we trade integrity for short-term benefits.

Seventh, fear. Acquiring better information would require that we take personal responsibility for the lies weā€™ve believed and told and that we change our way of thinking and acting.

Eighth, protection. We seek to safeguard the fragile, though false, narrative upon which oneā€™s life is built.

Ninth, societal politeness. Itā€™s easier to go along to get along, so we choose not to upset the proverbial apple cart.

Tenth, cultural indoctrination. We develop blinders and become unable to grasp that what may be seen as truth for one segment of society is not for others.

People create fantasy worlds in order to deal with reality. We're also emotional, and it's easy to manipulate people's emotions.

Democrats believe lies like Hunter's laptop is russian disinformation and ashley biden's diary is fake.

Democrats believe the lie that mask protect them from covid and the vax prevents infection.
There is a difference there...

Mask
Covid is transmitted thru the air, if you have something that proves that it can't, please show the proof. Masks do offer some protection from air transfer of a virus, especially a virus that especially attack respiratory organs (this is why masks have been used in the far east for decades especially around cold and flu seasons). This is also why masks have been used in operating theatres for decades..

Then there is the Vaccine

So they say count people who died... I will say the vaccine is far from perfect and people have had side effects but the mortality rates don't lie. IT is a choice people should make but it should be a properly informed choice and not one based on non-evidence fear.

You can still disagree with me and that is fair but I will ask you for evidence as well... That is the difference... Evidence and willingness to discuss...
I have no problem having evidence based discussions and have discussed it with many friends about concerns around the vaccine.

People believe things that they want to be, or wish were, true. People believe it when they are told that President O'Bama was not born in Hawai'i. They believe it when they are told that Trump conspired with Russians to win the election in 2016. The list is literally endless.

Politicians take advantage of that innate gullibility.

All that introspection should make YOU dizzy, lol

You believe in the lie that I believe the lies about the laptop and the diary.
Who told you the lie.
I feel Hunter Biden needs to be held accountable on several issues.. How Hunter treated his daughter, born out of wedlock with a stripper, shows what kind of guy he is. Hunter is Trump like.
Right on Hunter...

There has been a 5year+ investigation on him and they have discovered a late filing of taxes (he also paid back in full including penalties) and a lie on a gun form where he only kept the gun for 10 days.

Neither of these are offences as they stand alone would send someone to prison. If this was any other citizen this would be targeted investigation...
How much money have they spent investigating Hunter to come up with close to jackshit...

Would you rather hear the human race is unsustainable , or a pack of lies?

Would you rather hear a placebo is valid, or your death is imminent?

Would you rather have me stop asking for ultimatums? Or continue to gaslight you?

Hunter has known he has been investigated for years. Why did he not stop doing dumb stuff. Fair or not, the relatives of Presidents get attention and are held to a higher standard.
The slimiest things he has done are not crimes. He probably did nothing illegal with Burisma but what a stupid thing to do, take a job you have no background, in a country you VP father is investigating corruption in the very industry you took a job in. Stupid.

So we now believe kids of the President should be held to a higher standard...

So where is the investigations of the Kushners $2bn Saudi property deal?

Ivanka's Trademark deal within weeks of her visiting China for WH?

Ivanka using her private email address

Both these were actually working in the Administration...

Please show a 5 year investigation of her?

You are saying the law shouldn't be equal and if you are related to the President you warrent extra investigation... Now please show consistency...

It is not fair, but it happens.
It is the same for the Trump kids.
If I was to judge on character and actions, I would think Hunter Biden is a Trump not a Biden.

This is all well known, and has been discussed for thousands of years.

Can you give us examples from your own life where you 180ed based on efforts to embrace more factual narratives, and the costs/benefits involved?

Thank you! :)
