"Hurricane Laura walloped Lake Charles, La., Thursday, the controversial [Confederate] statue was toppled by one of the strongest storms ever to hit Louisiana. Just two weeks ago, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury – similar to a county commission or council — voted to keep the Confederate monument in its place next to a large oak tree at the courthouse. Protesters had asked the parish to remove the prominent memorial this summer, only to be turned away — prompting talk of an economic boycott. Then came the hurricane. To resident Renee C., who didn't want to use her last name out of concern that her employer might not approve, the downing of the statue is one of the only bright spots from Laura's tumultuous visit to Lake Charles."

Luckily the storm wasn't as bad as the liberal media hoped -- but clearly the single most tragic event to come out of this storm so far is the damage to that great Confederate monument...Hopefully it will be quickly put back in its rightful place so the South can rise again... and I hope they find out whoever that Renee C. woman is so she can be fired for her disgusting comments...

Or maybe it does, but the three statues I see in foreground are still upright.

Laura, being a well known commie pinko Democrat freedom hater, disapproves of all statues. She couldn't be reached for further comment. Officials have stated that she's been aiming to get those three but had encountered some technical difficulties.

Quite true. She did appear to veer to the left.

Should we consider this to be an act of God? What's so "tragic" about it?

The single most tragic thing to come out of the storm was that a Confederate statue was toppled? Are you serious? What about all the homes and businesses that were destroyed? What about the chemical plant that was destroyed and caught fire, sending toxic smoke into the air? I think you've got your priorities a bit mixed up there dude.

Why do you insist upon dividing those who get comedy from those who don't every day?

Why are you people so desperate to re-fight the civil war. God sent and took down the statue. You are the disgusting one and you should be fired.

But you don’t have a problem with similar destruction by BLM and antifa.

Update: After making an heroic effort to reach Idaho the jet stream appears to have gobsmacked Laura silly. Now she's drifting back down and back out to sea.

From the OP's image the statue appears to have been knocked down by a big falling branch. But looks more like the wind just did it from this angle.
