In all fairness democrats have been using extreme language to describe very mild situations to garner attention so much the past 2 years that now language used to describe a situation isn't enough to get anyone to pay attention. So I'm not surprised to see a republican have to resort to the same measures just to get noticed.

Democrats have made it so if you want anyone to listen you have to call everything a crisis, or something like that. A black man attacks someone and is killed or a man pretending to be a woman isn't allowed in the woman's bathroom and they call it a "systemic racist crisis" or a "transphobic catastrophe" and of course it's all brought on by "white supremacists". Therein lies the rub for DBA's view. Historically, Christianity's effect on humankind is mixed at best. Even what was "included" in the new testament were political decisions not that different from political gerrymandering. And while christianity was sometimes a limiting power of tyrannical govt .... just as are some Shia clerics in Iraq today ... it was also not only used by tyrants to "cook up atrocities worse" than anything Isis has yet thought up, but also organized Christianity even led these atrocities.

So, the one thing I'm sure of in this world (aside from my family and dogs) is that people who argue Christianity is on the side of morality are on the wrong side of history on issues like women and gays in society. Reagan and JPII were right that humankind is on a continuum of increasing respect for human rights, and perhaps someday women will not have any logical reason to seek an abortion ... unless perhaps medically necessary. But Reagan supported ethnic cleansing and JPII supported raping children.
