Former Pastor Converts To Atheism

Former pastor Ryan Bell was asked to step down from his Seventh-day Adventist congregation in March 2014, after openly questioning his faith. For his New Year's resolution he decided to try living without Gawd for one year.

He announced to NPR recently that he no longer believes in Gawd.

Q: This weekend you told NPR: “I don’t think that God exists.” Can you elaborate?
A: I think the best way I can explain the conclusion I’ve come to — and conclusion is too strong a word for the provisional place I now stand and work from — is that the intellectual and emotional energy it takes to figure out how God fits into everything is far greater than dealing with reality as it presents itself to us.

That probably sounds very nonrational, and I want people to know that I have read several dozen books and understand a good many of the arguments. I’d just say that the existence of God seems like an extra layer of complexity that isn’t necessary. The world makes more sense to me as it is, without postulating a divine being who is somehow in charge of things.

As I've always said, no better way to raise an atheist than teach them the Bible. :)

There is no atheist church with a mission to convert people to atheism, there is no atheist-outreach program.

There is your opportunity, form one.

Shows how much he knew/knows anyway. NO one ever lives WITHOUT GOD. God is always there.

Where?

Somewhere you and I will never see.

Well-ya-know, the invisible and nonexistent often look very much alike.

I considered myself a Christian for 40 yrs, and it wasn't until I started reading that book that I became an atheist. So, I agree.

Doing what?
Watching over your sorry ass....or NOT.
Looking at the things going on in the world, he's not looking over a lot of people.
HE knows exactly what's going on EVERYWHERE...even back with Hitler/Mousilini and Stalin. Even back to Attila the Hun. Even before that...you and I are in BIIIG trouble.
I'll just take my chances. It's been working out so far.

That's cool...it didn't work out all that well for Madalyn Murray O'Hair. She ended up riddled with bullets and dumped into a lake if I remember correctly. Piece of female shit got just what she deserved.

Murder of Madalyn Murray O Hair

What's your point?

Man created God. It's an idea. Nothing more.

So obviously, there's no point in concluding that your gawds have any intention or willingness to interfere with mankinds actions. Such gawds who are completely uninvolved are tantamount to nothingness. Why worship nothing?

Except when it comes to Madalyn Murray O'Hair. Obviously Porker thinks Gawd had something to do with her death.

LOL How very Christian of you.

Porker certainly has named himself aptly. Well done, piggy.

Without his full testimony its impossible to know if he was a christian at all or simply is more comfortable with his unbelief..

I've been in some form of sales for a long time, and I've never been able to come up with a way to sell the promise of nothing vs the promise of harp music for eternity. :p

Good sales people sell, the others make excuses. Hmmmm. We know what category you fall under.

Everyone needs to reflect on their belief system, if it isn't right for them, then they need to find out what is.

Those that belittle religion or atheism are small minded, bigots or are not secure in their belief system.

I could sell an empty box faster than I could sell the promise of nothing for eternity. One thing a good sales person does, is sell things that can be sold.

Lets see, should I sell rocks to be used for doing laundry, or should I sell washing machines?

You can't sell atheism, that's why atheists are not trying...there's no out-reach program.

People will choose door # easy every time.
