For True Believers in Their Bibles Being the Literal Word of God.

the assertion "JESUS WAS A SOCIALIST" has no meaning
Basically, Jesus would be considered a socialist in the American society now. I think he would adore universal healthcare, wide social programs of helping the poor, extra taxing of the rich etc.
True Pharisee Judaism is very socialist
Of course! Refusing to provide affordable health care to all the people is the exact opposite of socialism or of having a 'social conscience'!

your insistence on DEFINING SOCIALISM as a word meaning "having a social conscience"
is (sorry) IDIOTIC. It is an economic system

For you have the poor with you always, and whenever you wish you may do them good; but Me you do not have always. - Mark 14:17
Your quoting of your bibles falls on the deaf ears of those who can't accept their bibles as being the literal word of god.

No one besides you and a few of your toothless, backwards friends believe the bible is the literal word of God.

Of course jesus was a bleeding heart socialist in every way. Socialists and socialism are the traditional enemies of fascism, as is being promoted by Trump.

Build an apartheid wall!
Promote hate and racism!
Separate god's little children from their parents!

And do it all on the phony pretense of allowing the very wealthy to keep all of their money!

No wonder so many christians need to modify their christian beliefs to be conditional on the word of their Trump god.

you don't know anything about the Jesus that lived at that time to which the NT
refers. You seem to know a little sunday school

To a believer atheism does not look attractive in any way.
This believer can see the attraction.
Atheists' lack of belief in the bibles is more consistent with your rejection of your bibles and your god, as you've proclaimed yourself to have done.

But there's hope because your pals are slowly making their way back.

This is a topic that's meant for unconditional believers in their god and their bibles.

Do you 'feel' the power of those who you've chosen to ignore? You 'will' until you find a way to crawl and claw yourself back again.

If you are religious and are living a comfortable life and your family is safe and healthy it is easy to believe God is good and watching over you. People who have endured tragedy or encountered the seeming indifference of God to suffering that slip out of the Christian camp in the middle of the night. Why worship a God that visits us with such suffering and loss? I myself was furious with God for the cruel lingering death of my mom. It's far easier to just be an atheist rather than walking around wanting to punch God right in the face.
My mom had a lingering death as well, so please accept my empathy and my condolences, even if it has been a long time.

Blaming God for pain and sorrow is fair if He is credited equally for pleasure and joy. I've looked at it as God was never here to protect us from pain and sadness, because it is not a question of whether if we will suffer but how we will suffer. This part and parcel of human existence in the physical realm, and God is on hand, not to protect, but to simply be with us as we make our way through it. I too (as do most) know what it is like to hurt so badly all that is wanted is to be left alone, even from God. At least for a time.

I do not blame God for the pain and suffering that is part of the physical realm of existence. Genesis tells us that Adam (the name means mankind) chose this existence, and woman encouraged this choice. Mankind wanted to experience the bad with the good, that knowledge of good and evil. It appears God advised against this, but when the choice was made He promised to stay close.

I know dick all about jesus or sunday school. But I 'do' know a true and unconditional believer from a backslider.

You take the whole schmeer, the 6000 year old earth, Noah's ark, creation exclusively, and the rest of it, or you accept none of it.

Would you care to make your choices known?

Ding is a backslider and self-proclaimed non-believer in his bibles.
Really? Where did I proclaim that? Surely you can post a link, right?

Socialists are habitual liars. You can keep your doctor!
So now you are going to claim that you believe in the word of the god as written in your bibles?

That wasn't so hard now was it.

When will you backslide again and proclaim that your bible isn't the literal word of the god?

Now?

Or will it take you a few minutes to come up with another excuse for why you don't believe?
I'm going to claim you aren't a very good troll.

Your god wasn't punishing your mother with death, he was punishing you. And there's no need to dig very deep to find the many reasons why you deserve punishment. You're a parttime conditional believer.

I disagree, and the reason I disagree is that Jesus laid the responsibility of taking care of the ill, the hungry, the imprisoned on the individual, not on the government. Socialists abdicate personal responsibility while at the same time heavily burdening all of society with a top-heavy government and the resulting bureaucracy. Jesus was not speaking to the government, but to the individual, so let's not duck our own responsibilities.

Okay. I think that every religion that promotes high moral values should be a kind of 'socialist'.

And I'm going to claim almost constant and complete control of your emotions. Go away! This thread was meant for believers, not the weak who have lost their faith in their bibles and their god.

Wrong backslider! HE died protesting bad government.

You are going to Hell for that.

It's not a license to sin without guilt. At least in my case it was not. If anything it made me think about the failings of morality and adopt a more ethical outlook on living.
Agree! My grandfather was an atheist, there is an atheist uncle in my immediate family, I married an atheist. All are very good people. In my experience atheists acknowledge a lack of belief in God, but most have a strong belief in ethics and morality.
