How would polluting more help? This doesn't have anything to do with the environmental regs.
As I figured - you are completely ignorant of the issue. How would polluting more help?
Touched a nerve I see. Just umpteen zillion container ships anchored waiting weeks/months to offload. Poor libs they hate it when we rub their nose in their failures.California ports ain’t closed dumbass
Who said they were?California ports ain’t closed dumbass
Sounds socialist to me, using government money instead of private.
OK. You win.3-4 days my ass. It's minimally two weeks. 6-7 days just to get to the Panama Canal and that many days again to get to Florida. You gonna pay for the fuel?
The Panama Canal is 3423 nautical miles from Long Beach which is a separate port from the Port of Los Angeles. Both ports are separated by an imaginary border; cutting through Terminal Island. Sailing at 20 knots, without any stops a container vessel would need 7.1 days to arrive at the Port of Balboa on the Pacific end of the canal. At 24 knots it would take 5.9 days.
OK. You win.
And extra 6 days vs sitting idle off the California coast for over 90 days.
You really showed me.
Yes, they are ignoring the requirements Democrats put on the port operations that caused the problem.Trust me, no shipping company is gonna spend two weeks going through the Panama Canal to Florida. The current problem will be fixed on pretty short order.
Oh bullshit. This has nothing to do with Democrats or BidenYes, they are ignoring the requirements Democrats put on the port operations that caused the problem.
Yes it is.Oh bullshit. This has nothing to do with Democrats or Biden
So leave the 1000 ft ships on the West coast, the rest can go elsewhere. Only the warehouses are making money if nothing is moving. Biden better do something or even the dumbest progs will turn on him.
Holy shit folks... this wins
Al right what do you suggest Biden do? It takes six months to train a Ship to shore crane operator. It takes two months to train an RTG crane operator. It takes about two weeks to get the TWIC card. You’ve heard of this right? Part of the Port Security Package attached to the PATRIOT ACT nonsense? It takes time to insure that the applicant isn’t a closet Terrorist. We must protect our Ports.
Now, all of that takes time before you can begin training the workers you’re going to need. And no, you can’t work the people indefinitely. The rules are Union in nature, and you’re not going to get the ILA to ignore them. They fought too hard to get those rules in place.
Is Biden going to hold people at gunpoint and require they work as Truck Drivers? Excellent. Does that qualify as Socialism or Fascism? I’m never sure.
I love my Governor DeSANTIS....Extra 3-4 days sail time vs having your ships sit idle off the California coast for months.
Once again Democrats scare away major businesses.
“Florida is where your success comes in, and our seaports are the solution to ensure the cargo shipping logjam doesn’t become the Grinch that stole Christmas,” said Michael Rubin, President and CEO of the Florida Ports Council. “Why pay to moor off the coast of California, when Florida shipping lanes are open and serving as the gateway for getting goods to America’s market,” Rubin said in a press release.
Florida to shipping companies: Our ports are open
As California faces shipping logjams, Florida leaders say the Sunshine State is a better way to move goods to the East Coast or even the Midwest.www.wtvy.com
Jacksonville is the only port that could handle container ships and they're already at capacity. Not likely to be the answer. Maybe they could spread the overflow across the various ports along the eastern seaboard (NJ, Savannah, Virginia, Charleston).I love my Governor DeSANTIS....
..Tampa and Miami both can handle them. Miami is a big freight and cruise port while Tampa I know handles a shit load of passenger cruises and likely already handles freight as well........
From Tampa down to Naples------shit load of workers and some less crowded places...but think they could be very workable. California isn't needed------I know the perfect spot in fact, that was being built as Condo's but they stopped working on over a year ago------could be a very very good port. California isn't needed nor wanted....Turtle said: ..Tampa and Miami both can handle them. Right now--Ships going to california taking I dunno a couple of weeksand then sitting out in sea waiting months to be unloaded costing in fuel and everything else...3-4 days my ass. It's minimally two weeks. 6-7 days just to get to the Panama Canal and that many days again to get to Florida. You gonna pay for the fuel?

Then you have Alabama and Mississippi and Texas--Know Biloxi had casinos that got hit hard before years ago---maybe their properties on the coast could be retrofitted allowing for shipments by trucks back out west where they are hurting for supplies.
