Florida Schools Concern Over Exposing Children To Romeo & Juliet

I didn't see that. I think he's more PO'd over his Dad plus he's not the King now.

PS: The Northman's Amleath is way cooler. And there's Any Taylor Joy nooky!

We watched the movie version in the 9th grade. The teacher spoke ahead of time how there was a quick flash of a female breast. That if anyone even snickered there would be problems.

No one said a word.
We saw the punk version of The Tempest once. You could see Toyahs tits.in one scene. Nobody was hurt.

Oh, the irony

The woke education system is getting rid of Shakespear because he is too male and too white.

But knowing this would require you to remove your head from your ass.
The left has been trying to ban Shakespeare for years.
White supremacy and toxic Masculinity. A twofer.

"After Florida adopted its Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking standards in 2020, the Department of Education distributed recommended reading lists it said included “top of the line literary works with world renowned titles.” Authors on the high school list included William Shakespeare. Hillsborough County became the latest to take this step, telling teachers they could assign excerpts of plays such as “Romeo and Juliet,” but not the full text. “I think the rest of the nation — no, the world, is laughing us,” Gaither High teacher Joseph Cool said after learning of the directive. “Taking Shakespeare in its entirety out because the relationship between Romeo and Juliet is somehow exploiting minors is just absurd.”

Apparently, the initial concern was that there was fear to exposing children to minors engaged in sex and also, teen suicide.....but after the backlash, Florida decided that it was a mistake and Romeo and Juliet can be taught in schools....

"After weeks of wildly-varying interpretations, Florida has finally let school districts know that it doesn't think William Shakespeare's works should be removed from classrooms. On Monday, the Tampa Bay Times broke news that Hillsborough County teachers planned to teach only excerpts of his works, to avoid sexual content. That news shook social media and caught the attention of a multitude of national outlets, which further amplified the story. The next day, the Department of Education sent the Tampa Bay Times a clarification."

This constant desire to keep trying to revise history, whitewash education, has gotten just plain goofy. Good the backlash was swift and the correction was made just as swiftly....Too bad corrections aren't being made to the other bullshit that DeSantis is doing with Florida schools; like allowing Prager Fake University to do school curriculum for Florida students that is flat out propaganda... and requiring teachers to use it.....like this pathetically whitewashed Prager U video about Frederick Douglass..

I guess this means allowing students to read Frederick's "What Does The 4th Of July Mean To A Slave" is dangerous and they must be kept from actually reading Frederick Douglass and instead, watch these fun animations about a make-believe history to make their parents feel better...cool...why not do this about other parts of history like how what the US did to Native Americans wasn't that bad and in fact, justified because they were like savages and stuff...oh wait!

Aside from perhaps elements of "Midsummer's Night's Dream," Shakespeare's writings weren't really written for children and is more for High School students.
