It doesn't. It draws me closer to Jehovah. The amazing number of different environments that needed to be in the same place at the same time requires an intelligent chemist - no human chemists can synthesize all 20 amino acids in proteins at the same time and place.
But that is just a tiny portion of what God had to do to create life. He had to incorporate the necessary information in each protein for each proteins involvement in functions required for life. As Chem-Engineer has pointed out, exact 3-d folding was required. For example, the exact fit of enzymes and receptors. No human chemist can do this - we can only do chemical engineering using already existing portions of living cells.
Its not just amazing to me to ponder over how God created life but also the vast variety of life on earth!
It is also amazing to me how God made the laws of the universe as per Job 38:33. Man can't make laws of the universe! Those laws allowed for the creation of life - amazing! Yet, those laws also do not allow the spontaneous generation of life - showing our need for our Creator.
And the exact fine tuned properties of elements/atoms and the fine tuned ratios of the 4 forces of physics. Man can't create or even change the math ratios - not to mention actually creating gravity, electromagnetic force, strong nuclear force, weak nuclear force.
Romans 1:20 is so true - studying the things made (which involves all branches of scientific study) helps us know the extent of God's power and wisdom:

Evolution research is a lot more credible than having faith in a collection of stories, many that were chosen from a larger set of made up stories, since it says the favored books are "god breathed" there should be no errors in them, but they actually have massive errors in them.
The Bible is actually an INSULT to a supposed Supreme being, who is supposed to be all knowing and flawless in judgement.

It makes sense that the elephant kind survived the flood while the mammoths went extinct since Mammoths did not live in that area so elephants but not mammoths were on the ark.

What if Elephants are the modern day Woolly Mammoth that migrated to warmer areas when the Ice Age began, unable to survive in the colder regions without much vegetation, and Humans hunted those that remained. Also, there are things known as Storegga Slides, could have been glacier and mountain melt dislodged by an earthquake or a volcanic eruption, which would trigger massive amount of steam and ice melt under a glacier that would build up as reservoirs.

What if Elephants are the modern day Woolly Mammoth that migrated to warmer areas when the Ice Age began, unable to survive in the colder regions without much vegetation, and Humans hunted those that remained. Also, there are things known as Storegga Slides, could have been glacier and mountain melt dislodged by an earthquake or a volcanic eruption, which would trigger massive amount of steam and ice melt under a glacier that would build up as reservoirs.

The Britannica article presents variant theories and dates - such as between 50,000 and 6,000 years ago (no dating method is stated). Maybe these were during the Noachian flood which would certainly have caused earthquakes and tsunamis in the process summarized here:

The Biblical account thus describes earth in upheaval with mountains ascending and ocean trenches descending violently, likely mostly in one year. Like the actual observations reported by Britannica, the Scriptures can also be interpreted in different ways - but normally only one way is truly accurate.
There are other observations that point to a global flood, not just a local flood. Three for starters>:
1. Continental Shelves. A careful observation of continental shelves seem to show the old coastlines of continents - many rivers extend as underwater riverbeds as an example. This is true globally.
2. The universal flood legends I already posted one list of from our Bible dictionary.
3. The arctic permafrost. Millions of mammoths and other animals are found frozen in the arctic permafrost. Some are whole and with almost no decay indicating quick freezing in about 30 minutes which for such a massive animal would mean a wind-chill of c. -150 degrees F - colder than anywhere on earth now. This permafrost was permanent since that catastrophe until the present global warming.
Note: The Genesis account of the flood shows it began about October 31 (Halloween not likely by coincidence) and lasted 40 days until about December 10th. The latter date is close to the Northern Hemisphere winter solstice. Thus we would expect the frozen remains to be only in the Northern hemisphere polar to northern temperate areas. And, indeed, there is no such massive permafrost containing millions of animals in the southern hemisphere.
