Could A Past President Become Vice President?

Oddly, Trump's judicial nominee had a very hard time answering whether or not Trump was eligible to run again.

Looks like the average youtube-educated USMB poster is more qualified for the bench than Trump's nominee.

No he wouldn’t be

There’s a little thing called the 22nd amendment
Which I’ve discussed quite a bit.

And it is for that very reason, in fact, that I am right.

He has the eligibility to serve two more years. And there is no disqualification based on anything such as impeachment with conviction, or age, or status as a natural born citizen.

I've heard different answers for this. Me personally, I love Trump's policies but I'm sick and tired of his mouth. However, I wouldn't really complain if he could become vice president either. Although I'm really hoping for a Vance and Rubio ticket in 2028. 😁
Yes he could because Trump isn’t constitutionally ineligible to serve as president — only to be elected president. So if Vance won, and Trump was VP and then Vance resigned, Trump would become VP because he's not being elected but he's eligible. The only way to stop this is to change the wording in the 22nd Amendment.

His ineligibility to serve two more years as POTUS also makes him automatically ineligible to be VP

What about this are you not understanding?

Obama and Clinton and Bush Jr also cannot ever run as VP

OK thats fair. I am assuming he finishes his current term.
I am, too.

He will have had two full terms at that point. So he would no longer be eligible to run for the Presidency.

But that doesn’t mean he can’t complete the final (up to) two full years of the elected President’s term, should Trump be the Vice President.

Wrong. He is eligible for up to two more years. (Ie, if he runs for VP, wins that post and his elected running mate dies).

You (and others)?insist that he can’t. But that’s not what the Amendment, itself, says.
What about this are you not understanding?
I’m the one who understands. It’s you who isn’t getting it. 😎

Sure they could. Just as, hypothetically, President Trump could.

But they, too, could only serve for up to two more years.

Nope.

"But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States."

12th amendment
Wrong again, Farty. Try to follow along.

He isn’t ineligible to be President. He isn’t perhaps eligible to serve more than two years if his elected running-mate dies in office. But there is nothing in the Constitution saying he couldn’t serve those two years.

He remains eligible to serve as President — albeit with a two year limit.

Probably lying a moot conversation anyway. I would say the odds of the Republicans winning that election are roughly zero, give or take zero.

He isn’t ineligible to be President.
He is ineligible to run for President or Vice President again. It would take some pretty illiberal shenanigans to place him in either office again. I don't put it passed them in the future, but not for that Fat/Rat B'astard!

It's my understanding that A VP who takes over the presidency
if the president died or something like that, (LBJ), can also run for the
presidency for two terms. LBJ served 1 1/2 terms and refused to
run for a second term.
They have to serve less than two years to be able to run twice on their own.

Explain how he can run to be VP when, by definition, anyone ineligible to run for president is also ineligible to run for VP

If you cant run for president because you already served 2 terms, you are not eligible to be president.
1+1 =2.

There are only 3 constitutional requirements to become president.

There is a limitation on being elected to the office, the loophole is there is not a limit on being elected to another office and assuming the Presidency due to a vacancy.
