Could A Past President Become Vice President?

How does he get to be President again without being elected Vice-President?
Who says he can’t run for VP? He can.

And if he were to be elected VP and inaugurated, and then the elected president dies in office, he is eligible to be President (for a maximum of 2 more years).

And, Gerald Ford never got elected to serve as Vice President. And yet, when Nixon resigned, the unelected VP became President.

Having 2 terms makes you ineligible. I dont see a loophole there.
No. Having two terms does not make him ineligible to be President. That only makes him ineligible to run for the Presidency. He could still become President and serve two more years.

If he's ineligible to run for president again, he can't run for VP.

And if the president dies on day 3, he becomes president for 2 years and then has to leave office mid-term? Funny.

And, Gerald Ford never got elected to serve as Vice President. And yet, when Nixon resigned, the unelected VP became President.

Because he was legally nominated and confirmed VP and legally became president when Nixon resigned.

Wrong. Being ineligible to run isn’t the same as being unable to serve.

Yes. That would in fact appear to follow. And whether or not it strikes us as amusing doesn’t change the outcome.

Which isn’t the point. He wasn’t elected. So he serves as an example of an unelected VP becoming the President.

Hard to serve if you don't run.

He was eligible to be elected.

I've heard different answers for this. Me personally, I love Trump's policies but I'm sick and tired of his mouth. However, I wouldn't really complain if he could become vice president either. Although I'm really hoping for a Vance and Rubio ticket in 2028. 😁
Not one who’s already had two full terms as POTUS

One of the constitutional requirements to run for VP is that the candidate must meet all of the eligibilities for being POTUS

One of the constitutional rules for being POTUS is that they cannot have had two full terms already

Therefore, if you’re not eligible to be elected POTUS you’re also automatically not eligible to run for VP

Therefore, Trump will NOT be able to “work around” the 22nd amendment by sneaking back in as a VP candidate on a ticket

Period.

One of the requirements to run for VP is one must be eligible to be president

Will Trump be eligible to be president after he completes his second term?

Well?

I prefer Rubio over Vance, but both are going to be much better than whatever commie pervert Democrats run.

With the looming collapse of the Cuban communist gangster regime, and thus yet another heartbreak for Democrats, it would be cool if Rubio was President when it falls if it manages to outlast Trump.
Either way, we have a bright 16 years ahead of us, starting in 2028

No. He can get elected VP and then succeed the elected President. Heck, we already know that he can be VP without getting elected to that office at all. (see Gerald Ford.)
Which isn’t the point. He wasn’t elected.

He was eligible to be elected.
Doesn’t matter. That’s not the question. The question is whether he can serve for up to two more years. He can. At least the Constitution doesn’t say otherwise.

For up to two years. Yes

But the question is still just hypothetical. I doubt this will ever come to pass.

Explain how he will be able to run for VP when one of the constitutional requirements to run for that office is being eligible to be president?

Is he eligible to be president, no.
If he isn't, then he isn't eligible to be VP either.
Ford was eligible to be president.

15th post
If one is ineligible to run for president they are automatically ineligible to run for Vice President.

So, if they've only won the office once, they could. not twice.
