Someone makes money in the poverty game.Yes. People on food stamps work.
They’re also poor, elderly and disabled.
I guess that means they should be deprived of anything you deem too enjoyable.

But it allows them to buy it. It shouldn't, like we don't allow participants to buy vodka or cigarettes with EBT cards.
Because you’re saying they’re too stupid to make choices for themselves.
Poverty is very multifaceted. The myth of the "suddenly poor" person is just that. There are systemic reasons for this, some perpetuated by the subsidizing them just enough so they don't starve and are comfortable enough they don't care to improve themselves.
Putting soda in that cash pile is a no brainer. It's going to happen.BS. My whole life in CA I see Grocery accept EBT on real “Food” items only. The second pile paid in cash.
Its more the fraud. The desperate sell the cards to corrupt shopkeepers for cash (loss) to buy the good stuff.
But it doesn’t MAKE them do it.But it allows them to buy it. It shouldn't, like we don't allow participants to buy vodka or cigarettes with EBT cards.
If they were smart, would they be on welfare?
Definitely. Payday lenders. Pawn shops. Walmart.Someone makes money in the poverty game.
Have a blessed dayBut it doesn’t MAKE them do it.
So you were wrong.
Putting soda in that cash pile is a no brainer. It's going to happen.
choose your words more carefully next time and you won’t be so embarrassed.Have a blessed day
I don’t want a nanny state, my issue is why taxpayers fund killing and harming the poor? SNAP users have higher rates of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, partly because of processed food consumption. Why not educate them to make healthier choices? So now you guys want a nanny state. Gotcha.
Prohibit use of SNAP funds for soda, candy, and other high-sugar, ultra processed foods.
Yet when Michelle Obama was promoting nutritional standards in federally funded school lunches, the right vilified her.
It’s not about health, it’s about denigration of poor people.
So now you guys want a nanny state. Gotcha.
The poor kids rely on school lunches where I live, so much so that during Covid they managed to get the kids their meals when they were not in school. I think it was a drive up and put the meals in the trunk kind of thing. Americans, rich and poor, make poor food choices. My kids were in school when her lunches came out. I was careful that they got healthy food daily. The lunches were inedible. They were awful. Both started packing every day.
I’m all down for education and providing support for poor people to improve their health.I don’t want a nanny state, my issue is why taxpayers fund killing and harming the poor? We could ban the use of SNAP funds for soda, candy and other high sugar ultra-processed foods
Prohibit use of SNAP funds for soda, candy, and other high-sugar, ultra processed foods. Double the SNAP value for fruits, vegetables and whole food products. The government has the highly successful WIC to help mothers and children eat healthy, why not continue it as they grow?
I know my view is liberal but as we all age, it would nice to see people enjoying their lives instead of spending it in hospitals, doctor’s appointments and buy prescriptions that have side effects that curtail your joy of living.
So you’re willing to fund unhealthy school lunches and the medical problems that come from that?My kids were in school when her lunches came out. I was careful that they got healthy food daily. The lunches were inedible. They were awful. Both started packing every day.
Do you actually think limiting SNAP benefits is going to solve that?Well, if people are taking taxpayer money, the taxpayers can put some limits. I personally don't want to fund all the health conditions that come from eating sugary foods.
I suspect the figure is overblown for clicks but why the heck are sugary drinks even allowed to be purchased with EBT/SNAP?
And then taxpayer funded Medicaid pays to fix the poor's cavities.....We pay the "poor" to get fat, then pay even more to give them free medical care for their chosen obesity.
Food stamps should change from default accept to default deny. It shouldn't be "you can buy anything except XYX." Move to "You can't buy anything except ABC. Then make food manufacturers apply to qualify their products.
Everything the .gov touches turns out to be a grift.![]()
