If you really want to talk about threats to democracy, that has much more to do with vote integrity. There's a good reason most democracies are restrictive about mail-in voting, ballot harvesting, and voter identification. Most countries that are more liberal than us are actually much more conservative about these topics, just like they are about immigration. There are good reasons they lean more conservative on these things.
